went here many years back and had fond memories. was there tonight dining alone. ordered a prawn dish that was on specialities. toughest prawns that I ever had and naan was stale. at least the rice allowed me to have enough of a dinner. service was on par with the prawns.

I visited this place at least 3 times. Chicken Madras was very tasty. Chicken Biryani again was mouth watering. Tanddori platter was terrific. Panner pakodas were very spicy and tangy and made my day.So were vegetable fritters fired in slit peas flour batter.Garlic naan was good too. Reasonable prices. Will recommend it to all. The very fact that I visited... More

I think this is the first time I've actually fully enjoyed Indian food, and New Delhi is nothing like the indian places out in the suburbs. It looks much classier inside, and with that, it's also pricier. But I think they've stepped up the food too. Service: he waitstaff are all very kind and happy to answer questions about the... More

Awesome, awesome, awesome! My husband and I went there with our two little boys this past Sunday for dinner and the food was fresh, delicious and extremely flavorful. My boys loved the food too and the service was exceptional. We liked that they brought fresh naan and a sizzling platter of tandoori chicken to our table. There was a huge... More

Wasn't that easy to find an Indian restaurant in San Francisco, so was pleased to come across this. In fact, we visited twice during our stay. The decor of the restaurant is nice, and service was also very good. The food wasn't particularly spectacular, but not bad by any means and was good value for money. Tip: The Onion Bahji... More

We found New Delhi Restaurant on Ellis St. based on TripAdvisor recommendations. Eat there. You will leave quite satisfied. Our food--Murg Akbari, kali dal, yellow rice and garlic naan--was all very well prepared. The chicken in the murg was tender, the sauce was spicy enough to get our attention without making us gasp (we asked for medium, and it was... More

First night in the City, the family unanimously voting for Indian food, and from a short list of 3 restaurants we opted for New Delhi on Ellis St. Although quiet on arrival the restaurant soon filled up and there were always sufficient staff waiting on. The menu displayed plenty of familiar dishes but it was the mixed vegetable platter starter... More

This used to be a good go to mid range Indian restaurant. Went there years later this weekend (as there are many other options now) and food was awful. Ordered Rogan Josh...swimming with onions and no flavor. The saag paneer....can't get that wrong was spinach with paneer and again no flavor. Finally the seekh kebab...hard as rock. I would not... We went twice to this restaurant in Union Square and both times we felt the food was really good : Indian and not 'American Indian' as sometimes happens in these restaurants. This among other things also meant that they spiced the food precisely as they do in India, and did not make food bland for customers not used to the... More

My brother-in-law and I were on a 'tram-spotting' holiday in San Francisco and our last night was at the New Delhi restaurant on Ellis Street. Doesn't look much from the outside but minside is a different kettle of fish. Marble columns etc. add to the lovely atmosphere. The meal was excellent as well.
