The neighborhood and street are a bit shakey, and it 's far away from where most tourists stay, but this is a fun and delicious restaurant. It's attractive, and the service is excellent, and the food was wonderful. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Good outing.

We had reservations and were seated fairly promptly upstairs. The place is a two story restaurant with multiple rooms. There is a neat projection room showing movies on a wall in another room. Very cool atmosphere. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful in explaining and recommending some the California items that we were not familiar with. The wine and... More

Fancy place with excellent food! Definitely on the expensive side if SF dining. Food was great though, I got the risotto and friends got pork and chicken, all great. Nice wine selection and full service bar. Atmosphere is fancy- I would not recommend bringing kids.

Foreign Cinema perfectly melds sociable atmosphere with fabulous food. We were generally spoilt in San Francisco - as such it makes it hard to review every restaurant below a five star...because each one we dined at was brilliant in its own way and for different reasons. However, what is key to the success of a restaurant is atmosphere, service and... More

Stopped in SFO for a day and met up with friends. They suggested lunch here and were more than happy. We took a seat at the bar whilst waiting for our table (have the lavender lemonade- oh YUM!) we were told the table would be 15-20minutes well it took 35 which was just enough to be annoying. But we were... More

The food was delicious and the service was near perfect. I would go back my next visit to San Francisco. The restaurant appears to have been built in an old movie theatre. Old foreign movies are projected on the back wall of the garden all nice. (No sound)

Went here without a reservation, but had some really good drinks in the bar. We asked for a seat in the garden outside and the host was very nice and got us the perfect table. We ordered several appetizers and made a kind of tapas to try several things and the food was near perfection. The baked squash was one... More

It is fun to feel sooo French in the heart of San Francisco! We went there expecting an American experience, dining in the movies, so much 60's.... We found a wonderful terrace, bistro style, with s great atmosphere. I knew i would enjoy the evening even before i saw the menu. The good was good with some daring combinations that... More

I was in town for the weekend, and my friend suggested Foreign Cinema. Wonderful atmosphere in this converted theater. It was still a bit chilly on that Saturday morning, so we sat inside. Everything about the decor is inviting - the cozy hearth, the amazing flower arrangements, the lovely patio. I chose the tuna salad on focaccia, while my friend... More
