Found this restaurant on Open Tables and thought we'd give it a try. Menu looked interesting and the website made it appear there are real chefs in the kitchen. We arrived on Mission Street in SF early evening prior to a show, and we entered the big steel front of the building. FIrst thing is how unusual this is. Very... More

Every time I walk into Foreign Cinema I fall in love with the Mission District. It is one of this restaurants that from the outside you have no idea there is this súper cool restaurant, great vibe, and delicious food. Is a great place to relax and let go of the classic restaurants, I love the black and white films... More

Leave the hustle and bustle of San Francisco’s Mission District behind as you step inside Foreign Cinema. In this idyllic atmosphere, savor the California-Mediterranean fusion menu that is farm to table daily, while American and foreign independent films are screened in their covered outdoor courtyard. With their fine food and film, Foreign Cinema is the a perfect venue for both... More

You won't know you are there until YOU ARE THERE. This great dining space is stashed tight among non -descript store fronts on Mission Street. Great(really great) food and a playful atmosphere make for a fun evening. So what is the secret to their sesame fried chicken? Definately NOT the southern fried version but way way delicious! But don't forget... More

The atmosphere here for a Saturday brunch was really nice, and the service was fine, but we found that the food was underwhelming, and overrated. I had the duck confit, which came on a bed of drowned-in-dressing artisanal lettuces, and poached eggs, and my companion had Huevos Rancheros...It looked pretty, but was lacking. For this, two espressos and two beer,... More

I was looking for a unique dining experience during my last visit to SF, and Foreign Cinema fit the bill wonderfully. The ambience is magical - particularly if seated in the courtyard space. The lighting, the buzz of conversation and the film (Jiro Dreams of Sushi the night we dined) set the stage for an exceptional experience. The service was... More

Let's talk about date night. Not the panicky do-we-still-have-romance-in-our-relationship-if-all-I-want-to-do-is-sit-next-to-you-on-the-couch-on-Saturday-night-eating-Chinese-food-and-binge-watching-House-of-Cards date night. No, let's talk about a date night for yourself. It is a very self-honoring, "treat yo self" thing to do. Hear me out. When I travel, there are times where I just CANNOT do another burger or random chicken salad at the hotel. Girl needs to get out. And... More

Foreign Cinema is not your average, good restaurant. If you are looking for not only amazing food (which Foreign Cinema has as do many restaurants in San Francisco), but also a unique dining experience...this is your place! Foreign Cinema really feels like two restaurants in one. They have an amazing, open air dinning area which shows movies complete with drive-in... More

Films playing on a big screen and fairy lights strung across the restaurant make this a very quirky place to go. There is also a fun bar attached for post dinner drinks. The sesame chicken is fantastic!

The cocktails from the mixologist were incredible. Layers of flavors. The appetizers were fabulous as well as the entrees. Service pretty good but not great. Another place to go back to in the city.
