Good food and ambiance

The restaurant is located in the Mission District in an area undergoing a renewal. There is valet parking and you might want to avail yourself of it. The restaurant is decorated in a modern, industrial style. The food is just wonderful. We were a party of eight. All the dishes which came from the kitchen were simply great. The style... More

The food was excellent, very well cooked and perfectly balanced flavours. The setting was cool too, with the movie projected onto the wall outside. Service could have been slightly friendlier but our waitress was reasonably attentive. Expensive wine.

What can one say about the Mission that hasn't been said a thousand times. It's a rich, wonderful cultural spot in the city, and unfortunately, the Mission being chewed up and spit out by high-end condos, and trendy shops and restaurants. It will be a huge loss for San Francisco when this area is overrun by money. For now, we... More

Foreign Cinema is, without question, one of the best restaurants my girlfriend and I have ever eaten at. Not only was the ambiance spectacular, but the food was also incredible.

What a wonderful spot. Everyone's food was fabulous. Too bad we had the only unpleasant - downright miserable - server in the entire restaurant. Definitely put a damper on the experience. If management is interested, I am happy to provide details.

I know the title seems odd so let me clarify... Was the food great? Yes! Was the service impeccable? Yes! Was the atmosphere amazing; somehow simultaneously elegant AND fun? Yes! Would I go back? A thousand times YES!!! I know some have focused on the fact that it's pricey and is it? Yes, but (and I know I can only... More

We were looking for a place in the mission and this was a restaurant that kept returning on many websites. The lady at the door wasn't really friendly but we didn't have much time so decided we would still give it a try. We asked to sit outside but were not allowed to (although many tables were free). The menu... More

I really liked the vibe of this place. I sat inside which felt open, airy, and clean. The decor was crisp and modern, the entrance to the restaurant is unique, and the courtyard seemed really nice. Our service was good, but not memorable. The food was grossly overpriced in my opinion. Paying $31 for five mediocre scallops made me slightly... More

We went to FC on our last night in SF for a romantic treat. We reserved a table in the courtyard which was a good choice, we were worried it might be a bit cold but the enclosed space and heaters at the tables make the temperature just right. The place was busy but we were able to chat and... More

Staying in Mission District

Neighborhood Profile
Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighborhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country.
