3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014 NEW credit card Amex Card Member Review

I had not been before, but my friends had. They reported this place just got a massive overhaul. Not only in the room, and the menu, but in the prices! What used to be a classic old Czech/German dining hall atmosphere, is now upscale with only communal tables keeping the tradition. I found the food to be good but prices... More

The wonderful old restaurant had ambiance and great food. Today we ate in a modernized place we scarcely recognized. The Bratverst was mealy. The veal was dry. The chardonnay at $14 a glass was over-priced. Any other restaurant would have asked if we'd prefer a bottle. We're gone.

This was a well known old San Francisco restaurant which was closed for a time for remodeling and has recently reopened. It is difficult not to compare the "old" Schroeder's with the "New". The decor somewhat surprised me. They have retained the nice dark old wooden walls and some of the old art work and paintings plus beer steins, which... More

The restaurant has been here for decades, and the food was never that good (although copious and relatively inexpensive), but it was a convenient place for a German lunch with a beer, quick service and no need for reservations. The same family owned it through three generations, but it has changed hands several times in the last decade or so.... More

Growing up in the Northeast, we've experience more than our fair share of "pub grub" in Irish and some English establishments. So going to a newly renovated German beer hall seemed like a really good idea. This is a really neat and well conceived layout. They have an AMAZING collection of beer steins. If you have any doubts about how... More

The food is good, at this recently renovated Bavarian-inspired SF financial district establishment, but don't expect traditional German food or large portions. The lunch menu had good variety, but having a beer, salad and a sandwich could cost upwards of $35 per person or more. Fortunately good service comes with the tab, so it's suited for a business luncheon. The... More

Came here for lunch today with my friend. This place has been renovated and looks amazing. There is now a beer hall seating which is fun and great. We both ordered the bratwurst which was delicious and also ordered fries. Food was very good and the service was very very good and professional. Will be back for drinks after work!

This week I went to Schroeder's after many months of renovation. When I walked in, it didn't look like the dive I went to a year ago, thank goodness! The wood paneling all over looked refreshed, the wooden floors are new and the flow of the entire restaurant was so much better. I'm glad they kept the old paintings. Of... More

Stopped in here for lunch and a beer after finding on tripadvisor. Looks small from the outside, but quite large really .. OK selection on beer ... some Czech, some German .. I had hoped for more. $7-$8 for 1/2L. The food was OK; I ordered the goulash which was OK .. not great but not bad either ($17). Nice... More
