Excellent Lunch - pricey

We took our two teenage boys here for their very first dim sum experience. It was so fun and so delicious. We ordered many rounds of Shanghai Dumplings and Peking Duck. We also had a huge pot of green tea that was perfect. It is very expensive and very easy to rack up a big bill. Just say no... read more

Food is good but pricey. I would go somewhere else if I can do it again. We went on a Sunday morning and did not see a lot of choices either. Again, the food is good but I don't think it is worth the money.

There are two locations for Yank Sing, but I much prefer the Stevenson St venue. It is located down an alley from the Palace Hotel. It is only open for lunch but get there early as they only make so much of each item every day. it's a bit hectic as food is brought around in carts as well as... More

Awesome dimsum. Food was great. Good service too. Pricey though. Worth it for a special occasion. My whole family loved picking out things from the carts. Chicken Feet were better than I've ever had before.

During our trip to SF, we managed to take a late morning after walking the embarcadero to eat at Yank Sing. My 4th or 5th time eating here though my wife's first. Though I have seen it quite busy we did not have to wait and overall it was not too crowded. Within two seconds of sitting down we had... More

Overall great dim sum. The food tasted really fresh. The must-try is the soup dumplings. Har gow and siu mai were impressively fresh. The menu is limited at this location though - they didn't have jook (congee) or lau sar bao (duck egg custard buns). We tried the lau yoong bao instead which wasn't bad but nothing to write home... We tried this restaurant while on vacation. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. It is a bit pricey for dim sum, but it was worth it. Restaurant

Attempted three months out to reserve a table for dinner at either location. Only 2:30 to 2:45 would come up.calls to the restaurant were of little use. We arrived on time to find the place half empty. But...we were seated immediately and the food never stopped until I tapped out. Preparation was superb...tastes were excellent. Food is served by nice... More

Because there were ten of us (5 adults and 5 kids 12 and under), our San Francisco friend suggested Yank Sing - they take reservations, which are hard to come by in Chinatown. The place is very popular and even with a reservation, we had to wait almost 30 minutes until our table cleared. The dim sum were very good... More

You need to book for this Dim Sum restaurant where the trolleys are continually bringing round the most superb freshly made Dim Sum. It is spotlessly clean and modern tucked away down a side street.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
