Quintessential San Francisco

This is what I imagine a San Francisco diner to be. It has a time-worn elegance with round corners and lots of wood. Tables are arranged in rows and wait staff wear waiters' uniforms. The food was well presented, well prepared and plentiful but not too much. I had the Chicken Caprese Salad. This is... read more

If you're hungry and in the neighborhood, it'll do in a pinch. I had the meatloaf which was big, boring and cold. I saw a chicken pot pie go by that had to have been done in a 9 inch pie plate. Seriously? Is this place a marketing tool for a cardiologist? Had dinner at the bar. Bartender spent more... More

We walk by this place and always go next door, but we had a gift card so decided to try it. I think we missed happy hour by seconds and two drinks was over $20, little steep. Front area is noisy but we sat for dinner in the back where more reasonably less noisy. Larger place than it looks, good tourist... More

As I went last March to San Francisco to a convention, I had used to go to the Daily Grill, that was on my way between the Convention Center and my hotel, to have a Anchor Steam beer and eat some delicious sandwiches in happy hours or for dinner. Mrs. Katera, (very beautiful) the bar woman was very efficient and... More

After a very LONG day of travelling our hotel suggested The Daily Grill....we were welcomed and made to feel relaxed and not rushed.... we had a fantastic meal and felt ready to tackle our holiday....Service was great, very accommodating to the nut/gluten issues we have. Two of our family members had the filet and thought it was good but not... More

Husband and I stayed in SF 2 nights. We try to eat at different places when on vacation. We ate here the first night.Husband had trout and loved it. I had the unbelievably large and good chicken pot pie. The next night we wanted to to go someplace different near Union Square but couldn't find any menu as good as... More

The Daily Grill is attached to the Handlery Union Square Hotel, and breakfast included in the hotel stay is served here. A wide choice on the menu. Staff and servers courteous. Prices for the food are reasonable.

We dined here for dinner. I don't think anything on the menu is bad. The portions are huge so you can share even your salad. The staff were great. I would come back.

I was searching for a classic breakfast spot near Union Square and Daily Grill's menu called my attention. Ordered scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese which I had to return because the cheese tasted terrible. They brought a new one right away and it was good but nothing special. Buttermilk pancakes were awful. Coffee was ok. Don't recommend, won't come back.
