Busy but really yummy sushi

There most likely will be a wait to get a seat at this joint. It is very popular. The rolls there are really good though. I had the Philadelphia, Crunchy Crab, and Volcano rolls and those made the wait well worth it. The ambiance is one of a trendy restaurant so if you are into that type of scene... read more

We were craving sushi and came across this restaurant on our trip to SF. We fell in love with this place. Loved loved the atmosphere. The food was great and not too expensive. Greatly recommend it. Can't wait to go back.

Don't let the dark entrance put you off, this place has amazing food and an excellent atmosphere. We really felt we experienced the trendy side of San Fran eating here. There was a wait for a table but it was worth it...great sushi!

We had an excellent meal of well prepared and delicious sushi. After finding this little gem tucked away, we did have to wait in the stairwell of the entrance of the restaurant for about 20 minutes for a table. It was worth the wait. The food was fresh and well prepared. The funky basement atmosphere was great and matched by... More

i went early, by myself, and was able to get quickly into the bar seating. i tried to go on my last visit to SF and there was some crazy 2-hour wait. erhm, no thanks! this place is really tasty, and that offer some great daily specials. i would recommend going, but just don't be silly and wait 2 hours.... Wait doesn't take long. Had tempura and sushi rolls all of which were great! Don't miss the Volcano roll and the Pokemon roll. Waitress was helpful. Great atmosphere, yummy food!

This place was recommended by one of the guys at our hotel just down the street. It is a bit hidden, there was an hour + wait, and it is not the nicest neighborhood after dark, but totally worth it for the great quality sushi. When you get there, head down the stairs to the reception area and put your... More

We were brought here 20 minutes before opening at 6:00 and the line was already there on a Sunday night. The place is deceptively large, and unlike most Japanese restaurants - no Japanese-ness to it really, more like an ex-jazz haunt which it really may have been. But the sushi is spot on - we had a sashimi dinner and... More

Great sushi and sashimi near Union square. Fish was fresh. Be prepared to wait for over 30 minutes during peak hours. Please note that the restaurant did not offer take out. We had uni from Japan. They were fresh but didn't taste as good as those California unis.
