Locals were lined up before the restaurant opened, so we knew it had to be good. Boy were we right. The ambiance was laid back but everyone was having a good time. The hot sake was good but the sushi is by far the best I've had. Fresh and tasteful. My mouth was in heaven for a whole hour. VeryGOOD!

A colleague and I needed a place to grab dinner after 11PM in down town SF. Our hotel bar tender recommended this place, and when we arrived, we had some second thoughts. The place is a literal hole in the wall. It's in an old building, with an old sign. A bouncer (I'm not sure why they need one) greets... More

We are here for a conference and wanted to grab sushi. This place was top rated on Yelp, so we hiked over here from the conference. It was well worth it! All of the staff yells greetings as you enter. The restaurant is about six steps down from street level. It is kind of a hole in the wall, but... More

Most japenese restaurante in town are expensive. Try the Ryoko if you are looking for great quality sushi with a fair price. It opens until 2a.m.

The reviews here and on Yelp always crack me up. Yes, there is a line and it can be a long line. Yes, it's still sushi that is served, nothing more. But, it is amazingly fresh and well prepared and the servers and fun and friendly. Atmosphere is good with good music while you wait. This time, I waited 25... More

We arrived at about 9pm and there was about a half hour wait on a Wednesday night. Being on a mini vacation - we enjoyed the hip vibe the crowd brought. If I lived here and just wanted dinner on a work night - I wouldn't be please with the crowd or the wait! The salmon sushi was very fresh... More

Being a regular at Ryokos helps because there is always a line out the door! The atmosphere is dark and nothing to write home about, but the fish is incredibly fresh, and we always try the specials. The chef prepares special dishes for us because he knows us, and they are excellent, just like the other items we order off... More

I have been going to this place for several year, several times a year. ALL the food is excellent, most of the special are really great. The rolls are good, the Sushi excellent. I took a few Japanese visitors their last year, they contacted me a few weeks ago, they are visiting SFO again and wanted to name of the... More

Our son has lived around the corner from this place for over 10 years and we make it a point to have a family gathering there when we visit from Wisconsin. The wait is usually 30 minutes, but you can get a drink there or leave one behind while the others head down to the Owl Tree at Taylor and... More

The place does not look like much, you have to wait in line (calling it a line would however imply an organized process which it is not) for a while, the process to get a table is chaotic (go downstairs and put your name on the board as soon as you arrive) but....this is all worth it. The quality of... More
