Super sushi!

The foodiest person I know recommended Ryoko, so of course I had to try it on the first night in town. I was recently in Japan and had the best sushi of my life in Kyoto and have avoided American sushi since my return. Ryoko, while not quite up to my very favorite Kyoto sushi bar, was far closer... read more

So to start... Im from West L.A. and came out to San Francisco to experience some San Fran food! The concierge at the hotel I'm staying at (whom by the way was really cool) recommended this and a Thai food place for dinner. I am a huge sushi fan and I'm sure me writing this review makes it obvious which... More

We noticed lines out the door on several occasions so we decided to try this restaurant. We were pleased with the freshness, taste and beautiful presentation of the food, but having visited Japan we were hoping for a more authentically Japanese atmosphere and menu. If you look carefully you will find traditional items like burdock root and Japanese pickle. The... More

The space is tight but worth rubbing elbows with the complete stranger sitting close. The price is the best in town considering this place is fantastic! The portions are a bit smaller than other places. But, considering the great prices, I think the smaller portions are perfect so one is encouraged to try just one more! We had the Pokemon... More

Of all the sushi restaurants we have eaten in across the country, this rates as one of the best. We did not have a bad bite of food, period. Everything was incredibly fresh, from the rice to every slice of fish. The wait staff were all friendly, attentive and helpful, as were the chefs (we sat at the bar). From... More

Dining out for sushi in San Francisco is sort of like being on the starship Enterprise -- let’s see what’s out there. Arguably the best selection of sushi restaurants in the US that are affordable are in the city. Not that Ryoko is a place to go on a budget, especially when paying for your twenty three year old, sushi... More

I walked by this place and it was jam packed. Read the thousands of rave reviews about the sushi here so I decided to give it a try. Eclectic and yes, a very wide selection of sushi and sashimi. I ate at the bar, but the chefs never acknowledged my presence (until I was leaving). A waitress took my order... More

Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. All food came out very promptly and beverages were always attended to. Be sure to get there early to avoid the wait!

Recently had dinner at Ryoko and the sushi is some of the best I have had. Very fresh and simply prepared and presented. The Toro, which may change daily, almost melted in your mouth. Good saki and beer options as well. Don't let appearances keep you away, it's like eating sushi in someone's basement, but it is a great experience.

I loved this place from the second we walked in!... the small downstairs location had a happening ambiance, a laid back vibe, was filled with an eclectic crowd, a DJ that delivered great music and friendly, knowledgeable staff. The sushi was very fresh and absolutely fantastic, offering a variety of go-to standards as well as options for the more adventurous... More
