I was not super impressed with the food. We got Pho and Bun Bo Hue - the noodles were not authentic rice noodles, and the broth of the soups was not up to par of great vietnamese food. However, the summer rolls were good, and this place is super cheap. Overall, a good choice. The location is pretty sketch and... More

I come here every time I visit San Francisco. The food is cheap, fast, and served in huge portions. The food is also, really good. Slightly greasy, but overall excellent value. A good place to go with friends, if you want a classic place slightly off the beaten path, with Julia Child's face on the menu! (She apparently ate there... More

Great place to grab a quick, inexpensive meal before a show at the Warfield. 4 of us had 4 beers each, two appetizers and three mains and could not finish it all. Imperial Rolls are a must as well as the $2.50 beers. Service was super friendly especially surprising in such a sketchy neighborhood. We were greeted by every employee... More

If you are short on time, or cash, this is definitely the place for you. It delivers what is hard to find: great food and great prices. I have eaten there a couple of times and have tried about 8 dishes. None disappoint. The noodle dishes and soups are particularly outstanding. The only thing that I was not enthusiastic about... I ventured in early on a Saturday evening and sat at the counter. I just beat the crowd because shortly after I sat down with my son, the place filled up and a line formed outside. Based on the reviews...I selected the lemon beef salad, imperial roll and pork kebob. My son had the beef Pho. No sooner than we... More

can take 20 mins or 2 mins to prepare; don't hang about on the street while you are waiting. very tasty food, I liked the vietnames rice best but they also have lots of good vegetarian choices

My sister who was working at a nearby place brought me to Tu Lan once for lunch and it was the time I started loving vietnamese food so much! You have to walk over street junkies to get there (the area is not the best in the city), atmosphere and decoration might not attract you go there have a meal... More

We were a little worried about the "seedy" area Tu Lan was in but it's actually not that bad. Ordered the fresh shrimp rolls, beef pho and dry noodles with barbecue pork/imperial rolls. We've had the dry noodles once before in Hanoi and perhaps it's just our luck but that wasn't very good at all. I'm glad we didn't let... More

OK...so you will NOT be dining in a 5 star restaurant, BUT it does not matter because the food and flavors more then make up for it. The spring rolls and the beef or chicken with mixed vegetables are amazing. You can never go wrong with the beef salad or the vietnamese shrimp fried rice OR the ten things in... More
