Great food and well priced. Best breakfast of our trip

Ate here our first morning in San Francisco of 6 day visit. Clearly popular place as had to queue sometime to get in. The location is one where you do get vagrants (seemed to be a mix of generally poor and unbalanced /addictive types) but provided you don't stare at them they leave you alone. Once... read more

The food was delicious but the service at the counter/bar was slow and I had to wait a long time until the lady took my order. The eggs that I ordered were well cooked and the roasted potatoes were amazing. Arrive early because at 8:40 or 9 am there's already a line.

We had pancakes there. The food was very good. The service was superb. It was very crowed. We had to wait about thirty minutes. However, I was harassed by a homeless guy on the 6th Street, about fifty yards from the Cafe. Probably , there are so many homeless people around the Cafe. BEWARE!! It's very scarecly. We suggested that... More

We flew in from the east coast so were up bright and early so we (mostly) missed the line. The food is consistently good. We would recommend this establishment if you have time to spare waiting in line.

Food was very good, and the staff very friendly. Don't get scared of the queue in front, it moved pretty fast. I was on my own and quickly got a seat at the counter. I would definitely go back.

Can't speak highly enough of Dottie's, so happy I managed to visit. I arrived 5 minutes before closing but was welcomed in like an old friend and treated to a PHENOMENAL serving of quesadillas. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu at this atmospheric San Francisco institution.

On our recent trip to San Francisco, our first stop was for lunch at Dottie's. We had read that there are long waits, especially on weekends. We did not encounter a wait. It is "true" to its name and reputation. Our lunches were excellent as was the service. A work of caution, it is in a bit of a rough... More

Had an awesome breakfast here. Try the whiskey-fennel scramble with home made jalapeño jam. If you see a line outside, it's worth the wait. Moves very quick.

Possibly because it was a weekend, but we waited an hour to be seated! Had been to their previous premises and enjoyed breakfast, so with a lot of moaning from teenagers we stood..and stood! Smell of urine by the wall not a great help. But finally we got in. Nice atmosphere once in. Friendly, knowledgeable waitress. Merguez omelette, very tasty... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
