Great Breakfast Place

We came here very early, shortly after it opened, which was good: You need to wait if you come at any other time after 8am. We all had the omelette which you can design yourself with vegetables/spices/etc.

Don't be afraid of the sketchy neighborhood or long lines-- Dottie's is definitely worth it! From the egg dishes to the to-die-for baked goods, you simply can't get anything bad or even mediocre. Try to arrive as soon as they open to avoid a long wait. Although service is quick, there is a line around the block for this delicious... More

Out of all the places in SF... you really cue up for this? This is really an average NYC dinner. The only thing that is really unique is the wild boar sausage. I am sorry I can not say it is "all that and a bag of chips"... I guess the expectation was to be over the moon. Especially from... More

Delicious banana blueberry pancakes and classic French toast. We also had an avocado prosciutto egg sandwhich and a whiskey scrambled eggs. The eggs were good, but nothing special, in my opinion. This place reminds me of the Clinton Street Baking Corp in NYC - similar menu. We waited 30 minutes for a table for 5 on a Thursday at 9... More

It's not ins such a nice neighbourhood but it's worth going for a real breakfast experience. Great pancakes with ginger and cinnamon, french toast, huge mugs of coffee and tea and a line at the front that's worth the wait

My daughter and I visited here on a Sunday morning. We got there at 7.40am and there was a line. We'd just missed getting in...had to wait roughly 40 minutes. And the wait was soooo worth it. So much food, such great tasting food all prepared right out in the open kitchen. I'd seen Dottie's on Diners, Drive Ins and... More

Don't worry about the queue as it's worth the wait. Get there early to avoid the queue but we arrived mid morning and chatted to a lovely family from Houston which added to the experience. Great food and lovely staff.

Fabulous place for breakfast in San Fran. Once you're in there it's great. You have to be patient to get in though as there is often a very long queue - it's worth it though. We were approached by a few agitated homeless people when we were in the queue which wasn't pleasant so be prepared for that.

I first discovered Dotties on a business trip to San Francisco many years ago. It was in a space the size of a garage with the owner performing magic in front of a grill... As Jones street was still pretty dicey in those days, when I saw the line in front of the place, I knew it was either a... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
