A Celebration of Italian Food

We did an online rsvp with Buca di Beppo a week ago for a Friday night dinner. Apparently, Buca is a chain restaurant with 96 of them through out the USA . Its theme is on Italian eatery in the traditional family food style. My wife, her niece and nephew joined us for this dinner adventure... read more

As you know portions are huge here and they do a great job with the delicious salads and entree's. Best to be in at least a small group. Service is very good, prices are good and food is good - what's not to love!

We had a large party and service was prompt, family-style menu was plentiful and the ambiance was great. No complaints!

Went in with a large party...ordered small sizes of their really big portions...pizza was ok, pasta (ordered the marinara and the frutta di mare) was passable. Nothing to rave home about. Not quite sure what the fuss was...maybe we should have ordered something else?!?

This place looked like something out of a 1950s movie! Food was ok, ordered a glass of the Prosecco and came in a small beer glass as they had no champagne flutes due to breakage! You think a restaurant that big and popular could afford a few glasses! Food was way too big, yes they serve 2 people but if... More

My friend and vented to Buca di Beppo for Sunday lunch. I made reservations because I know they can be busy. At this location you enter from the street level and descend to the basement level. The restaurant ambiance is beautiful. Our waiter was Nick and he was very knowledgeable and attentive. Since it was the first time eating at... More

Nice typical atmosphere. Food took too long and the main dish - baked pasta - was cold and hard. Problems with the espresso machine and cashier made took a long time to have a coffee and pay. Service was OK, but somehow slow.

It may be a little hard to find parking but Buca di Beppo is well worth it. You may want to take a cab as parking is sparse. If you love ample portions of Italian dishes this is the one restaurant to go to in San Francisco for the price. You can relax at the bar before dinner or go... More

Very average food at rather high prices. Service friendly but not 'pro'. Unimpressive on the whole. Bowls of pasta with water at bottom. Caesar salads that had been standing around for too long. Same for fried seafood.

We went to Buca this week to celebrate our anniversary and what a bad experience! First, they put us downstairs and the smell was really bad, no music, not even close to be cozy and only one guy taking orders. First he came and took our order, he didn't gave us any plates or cutlery, we need to help ourselves.... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
