So good that we went there two nights in a row!

We visited the North Beach restaurant last evening for a Valentine's Day dinner. Of course it was extremely busy. Service and food were excellent. So nice to find an original family run five star Italian restaurant still in existence. We will go back again on a night thats not so busy. The Caesar salad was excellent as were the muscles for... If you are in the North Beach area of San Francisco, this is a must stop for Italian food lovers. The service is what you would expect from an upscale Italian restaurant. It was as excellent as the food, and I would bet that any of the waiters can probably sing Italian Opera. Bring money.

My wife and I stayed in No Beach last month in the Hotel Boheme (which is around the corner). On our first night (with suffering big time from Jet lag do to flight delays) so we randomly choose NBR. Boy we were glad we did. I lived and worked in Perugia IT for 2.5 years and their food really compared... More

We ate there last weekend. The one thing I learned in my experience there is that a "professional waiter" is one who can quickly zero in on whether or not the bill is going to be enough to be worth his time. We didn't order the sparkling water or an appetizer so therefore, our service was done. My $8 salad... More

Very nice place for a special occasion. The food and service are very good. It is a very classy, and old San Francisco type atmosphere. The wine selection in incredible.

I knew nothing about North Beach when I booked it but was told by everyone I mentioned it to that I had booked the best. It did not disappoint. From the gracious but humorous waiter whose suggestions were spot on, the excellent wine list and the carefully prepared food, it was a dinner I will long remember. I had spent... More

Super ambiance, Prosciutto hanging from the ceilings... very efficient staff. Raj, the sommelier is a highlight. We enjoyed a great Italian meal. Had 12... don't be afraid to ask the waiter for creative ideas... we ordered and had different pasta offerings passed around family style... outstanding! Great wine list.

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
