Delicioso

Lunch was not too busy so relaxing. The octopus salad was good. The veal chop grilled just right. Service was excellent. Valery parking is available.

We came here upon the recommendation of our tour bus operator. The place was crowded with local businessmen and we took that to be a good sign. The decor was traditional and the waiters were in tuxedos, but this did not mean our casual hiking attire was a problem. We were promptly seated and served fresh bread, olive oil, balsamic... More

On previous trips to San Francisco, we dined at this restaurant and always thought it was good. So, on our most recent trip, we decided to go here for a birthday celebration. The service was wonderful - attentive without being annoying. The food however was not nearly as good as I remembered it from past experiences. It was not bad,... More

We had dinner with friends at this restaurant and if compared with other American style Italian food places it is average at best. Do not compare with genuine Italian cuisine...it simply does not compete. The wine cellar section is very noisy, service is too expeditious and the prices are exaggerated. I am sure you can find better value for your money.

We ate here with a group of people, and received courteous and helpful service. The restaurant is from the old school: black suited waiters, plenty of veal and the expected family of tiramisu, zabaglione etc on the menu. I chose scallops in a white wine sauce, as I wanted something a little less heavy, and don't eat veal on principle,... More

One of my favorite restaurants in the North Beach area of San Francisco. Food is very good and the service and friendliness of staff is outstanding. Unbelievable collection of Miro lithographs adorn the walls. Great wine list!

We just happened across this place and took a punt. Not outstanding good just decent in our opinion. My chicken Massalla was a bit bland if I'm Totally honest. My husbands cannelloni was tasty but not that amazing. The service was great though. Overall I'd return.

Wonderful place to dine while in the Bay Area. Great portions, setting and a very fine experience. Lasagna and the fish stuffed with crab and shrimp is superb!

We found this place after our first choice had a 2 hour wait. (No food is work waiting two hours for.) The restaurant had great food and the lowest floor (basement) is part wine cellar. But when part of our party was given their Lunch menu (for dinner) and we found dessert prices 2/3 of the dinner price they would... More

We go every year for my daughters birthday. This year we had Lewis as our sever and he was fantastic and fun. He made our night. I had the pasta carbonara and it was the best. My daughter has the same meal every year, it's off the menu but they know exactly what it is. Tortellini with cream sauce and... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
