I hadn't been at B44 in a few years, before going for dinner and drinks a short while ago. I used to live in Barcelona and was impressed with the Catalan-inspired dishes offered at B44. I knew the evening would not go well when the hostess was dressed in stereotypical flamencoish garb. The staff was courteous and the drinks were... More

In the row of Belden Place restaurants; reasonably priced outdoor dining...tent with heaters as needed. Spanish tapas, wine, paella took me back to Spain. Fine service, cost moderate, unpretentious quality dining in a casual atmosphere.

I am shocked B44 has only 124 reviews. If you want to step out of your comfort zone or you are crazing authentic Spanish food made with passion and fresh ingredients, then B44 is the spot. When I say this restaurant is off the beaten path, that's an understatement. It's down an alley and past a few other alley restaurant,... More

We completely loved all of the Tapas, drinks and wine. We dine out a lot in SF Bay Area and this experience really stood out. The grilled Pulpo was melt-in-your mouth tender which is always a good test. The anchovies on toast was as good as we had in L'Escala in the Emporda. The chorizo and chickpeas was super, and... More

Our party of five ate at B44 on Friday, 18 July. This was our third or fourth visit and the best yet. We consumed plate after plate of tapas, drank cocktails, wine and beer and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Iberico ham was salty and wonderful, the fried anchovies and asparagus were perfectly cooked and the cured meat plate and the... More

Per a recommendation from the concierge, we headed to an international alley (Belden Place) just a few blocks from the Chinatown gate - there are several little small restaurants set up down this alley, and we landed at B44 - a Spanish bistro. Although we had "reservations", we had our choice of seating, and landed on a nice table outside... More

For the money, it was just a 3 or 3.5, i.e. OK. I would eat there again, but I'd more likely give some other place a chance on my next visit, rather than returning right away. The food was tapas style. Interesting dishes, but everything we ordered seemed a little too much on the oily/greasy/unhealthy side for our taste. Vegetables... More

We enjoyed the informal rustic ambience. After being seated, we ordered a bottle of Albarino. However, the wine was brought to the table warm. Our waiter immediately immersed the bottle in a full ice bucket. While we waited for the wine to chill, he served us each a complimentary glass from an open bottle at the bar. We were impressed... I came here for a business lunch so I didn't expect or need a lot. I just need a convenient location, decent service and decent food. What I got was a convenient location, decent service, and the worst lunch I remember ever having, which given the fact I hadn't eaten breakfast and was starving, says a lot. I had the... More

We hadn't been to Belden Place for a few years, but were coming into the city for a show and thought of the paella at B44. We met there for early dinner with a few friends and it was even better than we remembered. We shared tapas of gambas, pulpo, and fire roasted piquillo peppers. Each came out when it... More
