California fine dining

Came here for a special dinner with my teenage daughter. Menu is interesting, creative. Wine list is extensive. Attentive service staff. The ambience is a little dark quiet and formal for the typical upscale California restaurant.

As a party of four, we ordered two bottles of wine, one red and one white; each bottle being shared by two people. The red wine was opened and poured 10 minutes before the white wine was brought to the table and five minutes after the first course was served. Server had to be reminded to pour more wine during... Great location, but that was about it. The waiter was terrible, seemed more interested in talking to his buddies than serving us. Didn't say a word to us for ten minutes, we didn't even know he was our waiter despite us sitting there with no water or any kind of service. We had to flag down other waiters multiple times... We ate here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. We had the chefs tasting menu with wine paring which was 7 courses of deliciousness . The room is beautiful and our wait staff was so attentive as we're all the servers. We also grabbed a drink in the bar... More

This is a classic SF high end restruant. Located downtown next to the Ferry Building and a short walk from Pier 39; it has a lot to offer. A nice place for a good meal when on vacation or a buiness trip. The staff is plesant and the drinks are great.

Visited One Market for a business lunch and it did not dissapoint. Table spacing and noise level were perfect. The food was creative, local, delicious combinations of flavor. At lunch, I had the cold corn chowder and my guest had the blt. We both had the butterscotch pudding for dessert. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. I would return. Location... More

Great location across from the Ferry Building and park. Can sit and people watch, catch some bocce ball action and enjoy great food! Very nice space, clean and bright. Wait staff professional and very friendly. Started off with a complimentary taste of tuna tartar with avocado. Great! Had the grilled octopus salad to start and the rabbit pot pie for dinner.... First the food: Some things worked, others didn't. Some dishes lacked brightness and were bland, others were badly seasoned except for a habanero pepper sitting on the plate, presumably to add spiciness, but without being incorporated in the dish, just didn't work. Other dishes were fine but nothing special. A disappointing experience. The service: Not great, other tables that came... More

Good food and service. Quite a busy and noisy restaurant. I would like to come back a second time to compare with my first experience.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
