great location

bought a groupon for this restaurant before we left for San francisco. I'm sure glad we did. The atmosphere was great, the waitress was helpful and caring, the happy hour drinks were delicious and the food was good. My son and I stopped in for Happy Hour (all day every day!) and had a couple of drinks and the deviled eggs. Everything was very nice especially those wonderful eggs!!!

We went out for a getaway after a stressful few weeks at work. We started early to enjoy happy hour. We were chatting away and noticed the bar was packed with Warriors fans. We had wonderful drinks and ordered some apps. Then we were seated for dinner. Our view of the Bay Bridge was spectacular. The day was gorgeous. We... More

Good experience, our salads and pizza where good. Good service even though it was a ballgame the same evening.

The food at Palomino wasn't bad. My scampi was quite good, but my husband's quattro formaggi pasta was fairly bland. What really wasn't good was the service. Our waiter seemed to think we knew nothing and seemed annoyed we didn't order alcohol when there during happy hour. We both ordered Coke and when we tried to tell him it was... More

Food was sloppily presented. Pizza had great flavor, but crust shattered like a cracker. Cesar salad greens were stale, and tasted like a refrigerator odor. Vegetables coming with lamb, and sausages cooked like briquetts, dry and shriveled. It was obvious why the dining room was bare. The waitress was however on the spot and did a good job. Overall it... Great location with views of the Bay Bridge, the service is friendly and attentive, the food above average. It's a abuzz with all the young techies discussing their day, but there are quiet sections for the rest of us. Desserts are super!

We arrive as a second shot because we were trying to get to the waterbar across the street. It was crowded and we should wait for an hour so we cross the street and get into Palomino. Service is great and the food was exquisite Try the scallops and the chicken cannelloni, excellent.

Had a party of 20 on a Friday night so the challenge was set. Service was above average, paced properly and very attentive to our requests. The food was great but not the best. Everything was prepared as described. I had the paella with scallops and it was very good. Desert portions were huge! Prices were good for downtown SF.... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
