Great food, warm climate

Had a party of 20 on a Friday night so the challenge was set. Service was above average, paced properly and very attentive to our requests. The food was great but not the best. Everything was prepared as described. I had the paella with scallops and it was very good. Desert portions were huge... read more

The food at Palomino wasn't bad. My scampi was quite good, but my husband's quattro formaggi pasta was fairly bland. What really wasn't good was the service. Our waiter seemed to think we knew nothing and seemed annoyed we didn't order alcohol when there during happy hour. We both ordered Coke and when we tried to tell him it was... More

Food was sloppily presented. Pizza had great flavor, but crust shattered like a cracker. Cesar salad greens were stale, and tasted like a refrigerator odor. Vegetables coming with lamb, and sausages cooked like briquetts, dry and shriveled. It was obvious why the dining room was bare. The waitress was however on the spot and did a good job. Overall it... Great location with views of the Bay Bridge, the service is friendly and attentive, the food above average. It's a abuzz with all the young techies discussing their day, but there are quiet sections for the rest of us. Desserts are super!

We arrive as a second shot because we were trying to get to the waterbar across the street. It was crowded and we should wait for an hour so we cross the street and get into Palomino. Service is great and the food was exquisite Try the scallops and the chicken cannelloni, excellent.

Ordered a salmon and prawns, but the plate missed the salmon, so my plate had to go back to the kitchen to add the salmon. The place was not packed, so I wonder how they missed this. The salmon should have come with prawns, which were actually large shrimp. But the filet mignon was pretty good, very tender and medium... More

This was our third visit in as many years. It is suitable for large groups and special occasions. Some of the tables have a great view of the Bay Bridge. Their menu is extensive and has something for everyone. The prices are average, but the portions are very generous. Reservations are recommended, but they do accommodate walk-ins.

This is our third visit to a Palomino's Restaurant and it is always consistently very good. The Seafood Louis that I had here was so much better than the Crab Louis that I had in Oregon a few days ago. It was loaded with top quality Dungeness Crab, poached prawns and avocados. We had great service from our server, Komet... More

We chose Palomino for Thanksgiving, as we were seeing the Cirque show at ATT. Once we got past the snobbish host, thinks got better. Our waiter Parker was perfect. I remained traditional with the Turkey Dinner and loved it. My wife had Scallops which we very good, but the pasta side dish was what she preferred. However, they kindly replaced... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
