The concierge from the W Hotel suggested this place as a local gem. Very simple and cosy dinning room, but extremely noisy. The table set up for a party of 10 was too tight. But food was really good. I had the pizza bianca with mozzarella, arugula pesto and goat cheese. Great crust, great flavors together. Big portion. Cheesecake was... More

I went on the internet to find a restaurant near New Montgomery Street. Found this and three ladies went there for lunch. It was a wonderful experience. The food was very good, service and friendliness of all the staff incredible. Guilio, the owner was so hospitable - treated us like we were at his home for a dinner party. We... More

Every time we've eaten here the good has been good and consistent. Grandkids said it was the best pizza they ever tasted. This is the typical "thin crust" Umbrian style pizza, which has a slightly thicker crust around the edges (like a neopolitan) with very thin crust in the middle. Husband ordered the cioppino which he really liked. Kids ordered... More

I have been to this restaurant 3 times on trips to SF, the latest visit largely because I could get a reservation for 6 on a Friday night. The service was great, the food predictable and well prepared, and all things considered the restaurant does not jam people in like other financial district establishments. SF has a lot of good... If you want to dine at a restaurant where you can hardly hear anyone else at the table, Ristorante Umbria is the place for you. We were dining with out of town guests and the noise level made it all but impossible to hear what they were saying unless you practically put your ear to their mouth. Talking across the... More

I know there are a thousand restaurants in the Bay Area we should try, but on occasion I need an "Umbria fix". House made pasta, and the best eggplant parmigiana I have ever had (sorry Nana) are just a few reasons to try this corner restaurant. Limited seating means call ahead for reservations. On this last trip my wife enjoyed... More

I walked past this restaurant the day before and thought I would return the next day as the sidewalk tables looked like a great place to enjoy a meal and people watch. I arrived and waited about 5 min to be seated. Afterward, it took close to 15 min for my waiter to appear. In the meantime, waiter after waiter... More

This is a lovely place with great food and good value for money, which for me is always key. I ordered the spaghetti meatballs which was great but my partner order the Tortelloni which tasted great but the portion was really small compared to mine. He ended up eating half of mine. Our main waiter was great, really friendly and... More
