Went here with a business group. We were impressed with the neighborhood feel of the place. Our server was superb. Looked like a local favorite. They made adjustment to menu item for me, very happy to do so. My friend loves osso bucca (sp ?). He said it may be the best he's ever had. Very bold statement. Next time... More

We found this restaurant on our first night in town and were amazed at the food. The calamari is the best in town, the pasta dishes were just like Nonna cooks. Our three young adult sons were very impressed with the food and the quality. The wait staff were very efficient. We couldn't wait to go back for a second... More

We should have known it wasn't going to be special when there were only people at two other tables at 8 on Saturday night. Dishes were reheated and luke warm. Decent service but very mediocre food at relatively high end prices. Given the many choices for good Italian food in San Francisco, this is not a good choice.

One of the best Italian Restaurants in San Francisco. Family owned and operated, everything is homemade. If you go save room for the Tiramisu - it is phenomenal!

To be honest, I'm a bit torn about this review. I loved this place and hope I can get in the next time I'm in town. It is a wonderfully cozy restaurant on the corner of 2nd and Howard. I arrived before the dinner rush and was seated immediately. The host made me feel like an old friend as soon... More

I was in San Francisco on business and went to Umbria with a couple of colleagues. We had calamari as an appetizer and it was very good. My 2 friends had caesar salads that looked yummy although both of them picked the anchovies off. I had the evening special of pasta with oxtail bolagnase, another entree was spaghetti with meatbals... More

Walked here from the Moscone Conference Center. Oddly enough, they told us there'd be a wait to sit inside but we could be seated immediately outside. We opted to sit outside since we had very little time and we were very hungry. My companions each single serve pizzas that were so large neither of them could finish their meals. I... More

I liked this place. We stopped in and had a couple of pizza's which I thought were excellent. The bartender was personable and helpful with food and wine suggestions. They need more comfortable stools for the bar, that's my only complaint

Based on the recommendation of a San Francisco friend, my wife and I stopped in for light dinner and drinks at the bar of the Ristorante Umbria while she was at a conference not far away at the Moscone Center. What a treat! The salads were very good but, with no exaggeration, this was the best eggplant parmesan I have... More
