Stinking heaven

We were recommended this restaurant by a tour guide. We are so glad he did. We had Bagna Cauda. Lots of roasted garlic in an oil and butter sauce. With plenty of bread to mop it up with. Our second item was rabbit. My first trya at rabbit. I couldn't taste the rabbit through the sauce. Gaving... read more

Very disappointed by this place! Although we were tempted by the many delicious spots in Little Italy, we decided to give the Stinking Rose a shot based on recommendations from friends. I wish we hadn't. We started with the Bagna Calda which was practically inedible. Although the menu says there is a "hint of anchovy" it was all we could... More

Found this on a bus tour of San Fran and my partner and I decided we had to go, both loving anything with garlic. The service was fantastic and waiters attentive. Food arrived very quickly after ordering and we were given a choice of spirit we wanted in our cocktails. A must for garlic lovers visiting San Fran. Must try... More

What a different experience from 7 years ago. The restaurant has changed beyond recognition - big noisy groups of people oblivious to the fact they were in a public place - so loud we couldn't talk ourselves. Menu limited and uninspiring, food boring. Can no longer recommend this place. No wonder there was plenty of room for dinner!

I enjoyed the Silence of the Lamb Shank with fava beans with a nice red wine suggested by our waiter. Totally unique restaurant that offers a great menu. Even our 9 yr old found something to love. It's quirky, unique and has delicious food and great service. Don't forget to pick up some of their products for sale.

Had the bagna calda appetizer such a mellow garlic spread for the bread ended up blending it with the garlic pesto on the table and we probably ate a loaf of bread each could not get enough. Delicious. Ordered the 40 clove garlic chicken on the bone and 3 of use ate off of it, it does take 20 mins... More

Best part of meal was appetizer- Garlic soaking in a hot tub and dessert-Gilroy's Famous Garlic Ice Cream. Entree had many technical errors. Chicken was not cook in some areas, mashed potatoes too starchy and asparagus not cooked and woody ends. Would not return. Service was hurried

Thanks for taking the time to review us, IllinoisKate1.
