"There's no way you possibly fit garlic into every single dish and still make it delicious." "Challenge accepted," replied the Stinking Rose. If you tend to add two to four times the recommended amount of garlic to your recipes, if you love garlicy and buttery cooking, this is the place for you. Great meal, curious staff. Mmmm mmm garlic.

This is a bustling noisy restaurant that serves garlic-rich pasta and other dishes. Probably because it is so busy, the service was a bit rushed and impersonal, but the food was good and we left feeling satisfied.

We visited The Stinking Rose on Christmas Day and had a fantastic time. The food was exceptional and the service was warm and friendly with lots of recommendations. We managed to get a table by a window so we could people watch as we ate which was nice. The only down side was that the table was about 30 minutes... More

The garlic ribeye is reason enough to drive to the city and find that elusive parking space. It was true to form, delicious! The shrimp and mussels sizzling iron skillet was super too. We ordered the roast rabbit for a change. It was a disappointment as a rich and strong tomato sauce overwhelmed the rabbit and drowned its taste. Next... More

We ended up walking here since Muni was down for reasons unknown to us. We were seated promptly(5:30-6ish) We enjoyed the food and beer. Husband had the garlic crusted baby back ribs. I had linguini with clams. We had the roasted garlic for an appetizer. Kids enjoyed their spaghetti. Large desserts to share! The decor is nice, but I must... More

Ate here on a visit to San Francisco. Ambience and atmosphere are very good. Had eaten here a few years ago and had fond memories. Some of the food was overpriced (an expensive salad that was very small, for example). The food was good, but more bland than I had remembered. The service was not particularly good, but this was... If you love garlic this is your kind of place! However, it has become one more touristy place in a sea of San Fran restaurants. The staff is great, from host to server to bussers, friendly and attentive. The ambiance is old Italian neighborhood, but the food was mediocre. This was my second try and while it's a fun find,... This place is awesome! Everything is made with garlic and the mussels are amazing. We ordered a lot of food to try as much as possible as the menu was just so full of dishes that looked amazing. The margaritas were great and everything was just wonderful. Ambience is great at this place too the bottles from the ceiling is... More
