I genuinely LOVED this restaurant. First of all, one of the best nights out to dinner - ever. The atmosphere is like a theme park for adults. The lounge act made the place over the top awesome. My food was surprisingly really good…. I say surprisingly because when your'e in there you think "this can't be good food". People dancing... More

Hard to describe what this place is...located in the back of the Fairmont Hotel, the Tonga room is a tropical / Hawaii / themed room with tiki hut-like decorations and a former swimming pool converted to the centerpiece of the venue. There is a bar area, a dance floor area (This of this as the bottom of a U shaped... More

I definitely expect more with Tonga Room being part of the Fairmont. We brought our kids and friends there for an early dinner and the children had fun. The atmosphere reminded us of the places like Hawaii, Palau or Tahiti. The food was OK. I had the Walu - it was fresh but a bit blend. The poi dumping as... More

I always enjoy this place, more for the happy hour drinks and buffet. The bar staff is very professional but the hostess a little uptight.

This is a must for those who need a Tiki fix. For $10 you get a high carb, filling all you can eat appetizer buffet. Chicken wings, vegetarian Asian style noodles and some Spam fried rice! What more could one ask for? Why not a classic drink in a bowl with fruit, an umbrella, and two straws! Get there early... More

After dinner one night we decided to go to the tonga lounge for a few cocktails. Cheesy lounge music that in my opinion was terrible. Could have had a better atmosphere with dj when the act wasn't playing. Allowed children in the lounge. Would not go back

Me and some friends dressed up like our favorite characters from the musical "South Pacific." I dressed as Bloody Mary, in drag of course. My friends dressed as the sailors and we broke into the song "Bloody Mary is the girl I love.." I finished with a rendition of "Bali Hai." Everyone in the restaurant gave us a standing ovation.... Had to stop here with all the hype. The decor is amazing with with floating band, rainfall, huts, etc. The drinks are good but expensive, the food was average at best and expensive & service was top notch. Great place to visit once.

I was taken here by my boyfriend for my birthday dinner on New Years Day- it was a very popular place with people queuing to get in so we had made a reservation days in advance. The venue decor was fab- I loved the swimming pool and live band. I had a yummy pina colada and the food was pretty... More

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
