We heard no visit was complete without going, but could be because we are not into super loud and spendy. My age is showing I know. Firstly, on a weekend expect to stand in line, pay a cover charge, and $11-$15 for a beverage, while in standing room only. We didn't even attempt to get a table or food. It's... More

Went to San Francisco for a girls trip a few weekends ago and had the opportunity to try out the Tonga Room! It was amazing! Great Food, yummy drinks, and really fun atmosphere! Make reservations though, there was a lot of people waiting on tables!!

Big misty, dark Polynesian bar and restaurant with pool in center that collects artificial falling rainfall. Great venue for kids but corny for adults. Three of us thought all our fancy drinks tasted awful. But everyone else seemed to love the place so there must be something wrong with us.

The atmosphere and decor of the Tonga Room are fantastic and service staff very friendly, however, if you go expecting a great culinary experience you'll be disappointed. I ordered the red curry and it resembled nothing like a red curry, more like a chop suey from a dingy Chinese restaurant in 1980. The food overall was also very salty which... More

After passing the Tonga Room while riding the cable car past the Fairmont Hotel my wife and I decided it would be fun to go back that evening and check it out. So glad we did. Just a ton of fun! We were able to find two seats at the bar for happy hour and had a great time. It... More

Just ok. Didn't live up to the hype. Just wanted a fun drink and a landmark location and felt like I was in line for a ride a Disneyland. Band was good but definitely more trouble and expense than it was worth. A tourist spot.

I was there for a private party in June 2014. The room is okay....but that was it...just okay. Located in the historic Fairmont Hotel.

I guess it's because I grew up in LA and loved going to Disneyland and seeing the Tiki Room.... so whenever I go to the Tonga Room I like the Hawaiian theme. I like the raiinstorm. I enjoy the music when they have it. Tonga Room makes me happy. It's not traditional San Francisco and its somewhat touristy but fun.... More

I loved the Hawaiian theme of the Tonga room. Live music on the weekend adds a nice touch, but they will add $7 to your bill for this entertainment. They didn't add it to ours, perhaps because we were hotel guests. The bbq pork buns were yummy and I loved the mango glazed mahi mahi, but my husband was dissapointed... More

The Tonga Room made more famous by a visit from Anthony Bourdain is a bit corny but really fun for families. We even got up an danced a few.
