Yummy Comfort Food

I had lunch with a friend on a cold, rainy day in San Francisco. We were told when we arrived that the restaurant was closing early for a private party. Yet, we were not rushed out the door and had very friendly service. Then there is the food -- what a delicious bowl of tomato soup and a... read more

We had a group of 9 and everyone's food was dry. The waitress seemed visibly annoyed that not everyone started with soup or salad which makes for an uncomfortable setting. The 2 stars are for the beer options, otherwise, it would have been 1 star. I didn't have a problem with the prices, but the food was not worth half... More

Close to ballpark and the service is good. The food didn't stick out but they did the salad well. It's close to my work and wish they had a bigger selection of foods, lots of unhealthy options.

We were on a mission for food, drinks, and a college football that seemed impossible to find on Thursday. We stumbled across this restaurant and although we didnt have a "real" meal it was one of my favorites in San Francisco. They sat us in a section so we could watch the game we liked. We ordered some great beers,... More

We had our wedding reception here and cannot say enough AMAZING things about the food, service, and staff. Our guests RAVED about the food, especially the mini grilled cheese and Filet. The service staff helped us with anything we and our guests needed and really made our evening magical. Danielle, the event planner was my hero. She was so patient,... More

I stopped in for an early dinner at 4:30pm but they said they would not be handing out the dinner menu until 5:30pm. So I was given the bar menu which listed smaller plates. The mac-n-cheese was very good and only a hint of rosemary; very creamy with a slightly chewy browned top. However, the "greens salad" was a huge... More

Weird experience. We were told by phone that we could not add anyone to our reservation because they were too busy, but we were the ONLY people dining in the restaurant. We were seated for quite some time before I asked the hostess if we could order. She found a server for us. The server was not attentive. Food came... More

I work on Second Street near Bryant and there's a dearth of lunch spots in the area -- so I occasional venture out to Paragon. It's usually a good experience, and today was no exception. The decor is very nice, and the service is very friendly and prompt. I had the chicken, as did one of my colleagues, which another... More

I've seen some not-so-flattering TA reviews of Paragon. That seems to indicate experiences are spotty. For our part, we've always had good tasting meals served by friendly waiters who nicely accommodate my Celiac wife (although the GF choices are not plentiful). On this day--a beautiful one at a sidewalk table next to a friendly couple with two cute dogs--I had... More

When we got there there were open outdoor tables and we were told we'd be seated in a minute. 20 minutes later, we were seated inside then forced to move because they'd accidentally given away seats for a reservation. We were told it would be another 10 minutes and were offered no compensation for their massive and embarrassing mistake. Completely... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
