You'll find this lovely French Bistro down an alley, but you'll be pleasantly surprised when you step back into a time where quality food and quality service were expected. The place stays busy, so we sat for a drink or two at the bar while chatting with other bar guests. Very nice. The menu has a wide range of choices... More

We went into Cafe Claude in a driving rain storm and found a charming oasis of comfort and good things to eat. The food is simple but extremely well prepared and everyone who works there goes out of their way to be of service and make your visit delightful. We had soup and salads, all delicious, but in the past... More

On past trips to SF, we have enjoyed dining at Claude's to get our "French fix." It features a good location, lively menu, and fairly-priced wine selections. Malheuresment, we visited Claude's on a recent Sunday evening...big mistake as the live music was absolutely awful...loud and inappropriate for a Euopean style bistro. Two acoustic guitars and a flugelhorn can work but... More

The small restaurant is well hidden, but if you can find it you won't be dissapointed. Went on a Saturday lunchtime, and it is very similar to small brasserie cafes I've eaten in all over France. The food fare is simple, but well prepared, cooked and presented. Good cocktails, and sumptuous deserts. This is not a fancy restaurant, and nor... More

Chose Cafe Claude in part because live jazz was advertised. The trio did play jazz, but not improv, just old numbers. The table seating did not allow for private conversation, we were just a little too aware of what was being said at the tables beside us. The food was good and they have a really cool logo, but there... More

Love this little French cafe hidden down an alley/lane near Union Square. Spending a day running around the City? Take a leisurely lunch here, some French onion soup, salad, baguette, glass of wine, very intimate and a pleasure, then on your way! A real zinc bar too, very cool. Time travel a moment back to Paris. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is tucked away so well, even the cab drivers don't know where it is. We had to map it on our phone for the guy, even then it was a hunt. Once we found the place, literally in an alley past a divider that said Cafe Claude, we felt as if we were transported back to Paris. Dark... More

Came here with an out of town guest (I am local). Instead of going to my usual haunts, decided to try something new. She was staying at the Hyatt Union Square so it was VERY convenient. Made reservations on OpenTable and we were promptly seated. We had a lot of catching up to do so based on other reviews that... More

I love French bistro food, and am always looking for that good standby: a place with a predictabley good menu, the plats du jour (some variations), authentic enough interpretations and best when served with true French flair and an accent! We ate out on the street in a protected section of an alley in the financial district. Our dog was... More

My wife and I have traveled many places, and this could be the most romantic and best food we have ever had. I highly recommend getting reservations on open table. We were able to walk right up a get a table, while others waited 30 mins. Food was great, atmosphere was great and the jazz music was great. This place... More
