Affectionately known as the "Paris of the West," Cafe Claude is a San Francisco institution. Situated on one of the city's hidden alleys, Claude Lane, Cafe Claude offers a taste of France, with classic bistro dishes at lunch and dinner, a full bar, and an affordable wine list. On warm days, linger on the patio and enjoy a rare dose of sunshine, or a warming bowl of onion soup or coq au vin inside. My favorite French restaurant

Love the croque madame and the moules and frittes. we go there for lunch whenever in San Francisco. Good rendition of food we have had in Paris. Reasonable priced wine list. Last time we were there had a french waitress who was very attentive.

Our visit there took me back to dining in France......one respect notwithstanding. The menu and setting (the patio) were redolent of a classic bistrot and even got me to gushing to le garçon a bit too much. The food? I believe escargot is a simple dish, but it's presentation here lifted it above other samples in this city, thanks to... More

What an enormous disappointment . . . great reviews don't always translate into great meals. Dinner was virtually inedible and even the waiter told us the kitchen was "having an off night". Vive La France . . . elsewhere.

I have been to Cafe Claude several times over the years. Each time the food and service have been lovely. The place just has a wonderful feel to it, energetic and, yes, noisy. It is not one of my top tens but always reliable and enjoyable. I look forward to going back.

I dined here solo while in San Francisco for business. Since it was close to the hotel and I was craving steak frites, this seemed like a perfect option. Fortunately, I was able to secure a last-minute reservation. Try to get a reservation because it is a small place and fills up quickly at peak hours. I was greeted warmly... More

I have been visiting Cafe Claude for decades and it never disappoints. The vibe, service and food are five star--trendy yet warm and inviting. Must see to have that special San Francisco experience.

Ate here on Bastile Eve (that's not really a thing, I know) and had a great time. They had a prix fixe menu that was excellent and a great value. Very nice French wines on the wine list. But really, I think it was the service that shined. From the bar, the hosts and especially the waiter they were all... More
