Met an old friend for dinner here at his suggestion. Atmosphere transported me to France and bistro dining. Pate was creamy, rillettes were hardy and full of flavor served with a wonderful country style bread. I had the trout which was perfectly cooked with delicious roasted cauliflower and a meuniere sauce with capers and golden raisins which provided a nice... More

I chose Cafe Claude from the menu and TA reviews; therefore had high expectations. This place is a real find in SF especially if you are traveling on business and staying in the financial district area. A short walk away, down an alley, alongside a street mural of a blue fairy? is this small cafe with both indoor and outdoor... More

We made reservations as a joke; my husband is named Claude and this restaurant is even on Claude Lane and close to our hotel. We shared a wonderful evening with our grandson: the setting, service and most importantly the food was really and seriously amazing! Wish we could return soon and enjoy live jazz!!

Fortunately we found Cafe Claude in our Fodor's Guide. You might miss it, as it is located in an alley off a main shopping street. The French bistro menu gave us lot's of option. Even though the place was busy, we were not rushed and had a most enjoyable time.

Cafe Claude has become well known and they know it. Prices have gone up a LOT - a $130+ tab for two is unreasonable. Not helped by a waitress who when asked for two glasses of $9 wine recommended a carafe .. without telling us that it cost $36 ... Or by the hostess who when we arrived early for... More

Excellent service and food. Nice wine list. Even though the seating is a little cramped, this restaurant is worth going to! I want to go back!

My 17 year old and I enjoyed lunch here at the recommendation of our hotel. It was our first meal in San Francisco after a long journey (plane, train, hefty walk to hotel) and a real treat. We left a snow storm at home so really enjoyed sitting outside -- in a laneway. No view but loved it. We ate... More

Three of us went here after a matinee. We arrived a bit too early but serviceperson kindly seated us. The dishes we tried were good and considerable. Crème de Celeri, Soupe À L’Oignon and Frisée Aux Lardons are very good. However, the daily special, Braised Rabbit was unpleasant, my Swiss friend said. And my Coq Au Vin tasted good but... More

This was our second visit to Cafe Claude, which is located in an alley off Bush street in the mini-French Quarter. Made an 8:30 reservation for 2 (through OpenTable); somehow this got misconstrued as a table for 4, so in the end we waited about 15 minutes on the steps. Once seated, the salads, bread, pasta and artic char (with... More
