This is an attractive little restaurant, but the food is no better than average New American and the noise level on the night I ate there was deafening (and this was a weeknight). I was with a friend and colleague I hadn't seen for a long time, and we spent our whole meal leaning over the table trying to hear... More

First crush is a go-to for me when I'm in the city, and on my most recent trip I enjoyed it so much I've decided to review it. Strongly, strongly recommend going with a friend and sharing appetizers and other small plates. There is so much that's on this fantastic menu, it's hard to choose just a single appetizer. The... Again, on a business trip, First Crush was hyped up to the max by a coworker and it did not disappoint. My only complaint was that despite being a 15 top, the service could have absolutely been better. The lamb bolognese was fantastic and the wine list was nothing short of top notch. I can't wait to go back and... More

Awesome find! Just when we thought we wouldn't be able to get a great dinner, last minute in San Francisco, on New Year's Eve, look what we found! This place perfect and got us in at the bar where we like it to see things. Achingly handsome bar service, with no attitude and very friendly! Set menu, wine pairing, with... More

Walking distance from the Orpheum, although probably wouldn't walk dow Market St after dark. Intimate place, good menu. Not pricey for San Francsico, but not cheap. We had read that we could get a free dessert if we had theatre tickets. The owner didn't know about that but let us have it anyway. She was very nice - told us... More

Why do we dine out? For fun, flavor, festivity & friendliness? Then First Crush is the "where" to answer that question--get in here! Cozy & welcoming atmosphere, super-friendly service (thanks, Andy!) and THE BEST SMALL PLATES EVER--my new fave restaurant in SFO!!

Came in for business and went with a colleague here for dinner our first night. Very trendy but intimate setting. Our server was very friendly and very knowledgable about the wines and cheese which is what we decided to have. All wines are California and we decided to do the wine flights to get samplings. Along with the wine, we... More

Close to our hotel and we stopped to view the menu outside and the hostess convinced us to come in and dine. Tables were spaced to close together to have a private conversation. The food was fine, service fine, just kind of forgettable.

Selected Fresh Crush because it was 2 blocks from our hotel and had great reviews- we were not disappointed. Wonderful wild arugula salad with ham, pistachios, blackberries, and goat cheese; watermelon and heirloom tomato salad; fritto misto; and prawn spring rolls (lightly fried); and tangerine sorbert- the next night I returned with 2 other friends and tried the lobster ravioli... I arrived from the East coast in San Fran in the late afternoon and was famished. as I was dining alone, I wanted to go to a place that was small and had a bar. This was a great choice and an interactive experience with the availability of California wine flights. The food was average. I had the butternut squash... More
