Fresh & tasty

Visited the restaurant inside the Ferry Building or if it's Saturday, visit the tent in the Farmer's Market behind the building for fresh oysters!

Fresh seafood and efficient if impersonal service. Debatable whether the charmless experience is worth the long wait for a table and the noisy crowds at lunchtime.

This is a small place on the Ferry Building that has been very popular for over ten years. Although they offer few other choices of soup or fish, this is the place to go before dinner for raw oysters and a glass of riesling. The oysters comes from their farm near Bodega, about an hour north of the Golden Gate... More

Fortunately I went with someone who knew the drill, because it was a little unclear how one procured a table. We bellied up to the queue and waited about a half hour. Things moved quickly in this busy water front restaurant with the spectacular view. Can you really dine at a place called oyster house and not have oysters? Absolutely!!... More

I decided to ask the waitstaff for drink and oyster selections and they aced it! Let them know what you like and they will take care of the selection. My husband ended up liking their cooked oyster selection over his standby of Rockefeller. I had the smallest oyster I've ever seen and they were the best I've ever had! The... More

Long queues. So that says a lot about a restaurant! The views are fantastic, the food is delicious and the draft beers are (Y) We had few seafood platters..the shrimps, mussels, clams, everything was so fresh. You cant have anything fresher than Hog Island Oyesters' !

I ordered the clam chowder and got a bowl of cream with some clams floating in it. Not impressed. My husband's fish stew was tasty. Kids thought the grilled cheese sandwich was way too rich. Very expensive for what it was and didn't live up to the hype. Nice venue though.

Best oysters I've ever had! Good cocktails and friendly staff. Expect a wait for a table or you can luck into a seat at the bar.

I don't think there are many places in San Francisco that do fresher seafood. The food is great the views are amazing and the staff are very helpful. Be prepared to wait as there is usually a queue.

After having high priced oysters elsewhere thru out the Bay area...and not impressed with this vs our gulf coast oyters...The Chipotle Bourbon Grilled Oysters here left me with a better taste for local oysters. They are still smaller than their gulf coast cousins but the sauce and the heat helped them (as opposed to raw ones). Old Bay seasoned French... More
