Oyster Heaven

My wife like oysters, so why not go to Hog Island Oyster Company being in San Francisco? Now my wife loves oysters - she couldn´t have enough of them at the Oyster Company. Me? I enjoyed the wine and the look on her face - it was Worth every dollar! ;-)

This is hands down the best clam chowder. Their oysters are fabulous too. Its a gem of a restaurant with great service and fantastic food.

We had lunch here last week and were able to sit outside. A friend and I shared the crab hush puppies and pork belly sliders (both were really good). My husband had shrimp and grits which he said were very good (did not appeal to me as the shrimp were erm with heads. I would go back in a heartbeat... More

We enjoyed an early dinner at Hog Island Oyster Company. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller from the "grilled" oyster offerings. The oysters were just barely cooked and were very fresh tasting. The cream sauce was very light and not overpowering. We split the avocado salad with grapefruit. It was very refreshing and light. My dining companion had the shrimp... More

As a visitor from Australia the food was lovely and the price was very reasonable. There was a generous amount of clams in their famous chowder and we left very satisfied. Worth a visit!

I am not a huge oyster fan so I ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of seasoned french fries. The grits were too runny and the dish only had 3 shrimp. I will say that it was a small plate so I didn't expect it to be huge. The french fries were not hot - barely warm. The... More

To enter you have to go through the ferry terminal and enter the restaurant through an external door along the pier, and there are some tables outside. We had a selection of six different types of locally grown and harvested oysters, all shucked right before serving on the half-shell with a ramekin of vinegar and shallots and some lemon slices.... Food is good but it can get really pricey. Crowded on Fridays. Don't have happy hour anymore. It's nice for a special treat.

Our first stop on a trip to San Francisco. If you catch the weather right, sit out side and watch the ferry traffic. Always good selection of oysters which can be a meal in itself. The Ferry Building is also a food lover's delight but also just a fun place to stroll.

Have tasted oyster all over the world. This is the best! Though small but very crunchy and succulent. Tasty as can be in raw. Simply love it!!! The buns are also awesome!!! Long queue to get a table at 6pm. Great place to have a drink before dinner. Overlooking Alcatraz at ferry building.
