Not bad, not great, nice room expensive

Fairly good sushi, terrific service ask for main room which has views of bay bridge. Like I said not at Sugarfish or former Nozawa level more Katsuya. Expensive.

We visited Ozumo for my husband's 30th birthday. I emailed ahead advising that it was his birthday. We were greeted by friendly door staff who were aware of the occasion and wished him a happy birthday. Our waitress Nicole was brilliant! Her knowledge of the menu and recommendations were great and she definitely added value to the experience. The food... More

Starting with the location near Embarcado it's in such a great spot and the restaurant setup is very hip and in great taste. The food has to be some of the best Japanese I have ever had anywhere in the world, service awesome. Highly recommend.

My boyfriend (now fiancé) took me to Ozumo the day after he proposed to celebrate. We ordered two glasses of champagne and jumped right into the menu. The menu had an interesting mix of things and some experimental dishes. My boyfriend ordered Gyu Bento which was a Washyu flatloin served with mushrooms and I ordered the Kaisen-Don, a dish with... The staff was quick, polite, and knowledgeable, but were also very friendly and helpful, and became more chatty once they sense I welcomed the conversation and as it got later in the night and things slowed down for them. The food was incredible. Everything I ordered was one of the best versions of that thing I've ever experienced at a... More

Very attentive, but not obnoxious service. Excellent food - I had srimp and vegetable tempura. There were some hot peppers in the vegetable tempura - something I hadn't seen before. The restaurant is a little dark (atmosphere) but lovely.

With all the Japanese chefs around SF you would think it wouldn't be this hard to prepare authentic Japanese food. I hate when restaurants try to be all things to all people. You don't mix sushi with robata-yaki with tempura. Sorry. it doesn't work.

My wife and I arrived an hour early for our reservations and sat in the bar area until our table was ready. They were very timely with our service and friendly in the bar area. Unfortunately, when we were sat, we felt like we were involved in an intimate chess game with the server as to which expensive item on... More

We enjoyed our food a lot at Ozumo. We were pleasently surprised with the service and quality of food. We are typically pretty picky about sushi and like Ozumo because there are a lot of non-sushi options on the menu too!

I've eaten in a lot of Japanese restaurants and sushi bars, including a short visit to Japan. I live in Austin, Texas and we have some of the best there. This place is right up there on the short list. I sat at the sushi bar. I asked my sushi chef to make me some sashimi and a roll. He... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
