Dined on a Saturday night with relatives who are real San Franciscans! Very good meal, top service. Ingredients were fresh and flavorful, not rushed through meal, ambiance not loud like so many restaurants these days. Beautiful decor.

Piperade has a sit down restaurant on Battery street If you are after a quick - but absolutely excellent lunch - go around the corner to their alley stand. There, they serve boxed salads and sandwiches at lunch and a range of options for breakfast. The salad menu is impressive. If you arrive at 11:30 there will be at least... More

A few years ago, after dining around the Spanish Basque areas of Alava, Vizcaya, Bilbao - San Sebastian, I couldn't resist the temptation to see if I could relive the culinary experiences I had there in San Francisco. I still had pintxos, bacalao pil-pil, patxaran, txakolina and sidrerias fresh in my mind. According to our server, Piperade's tradition is from... More

We celebrated our anniversary at Piperade using a Travelzoo promotion and the experience was first class. The cheerful hostess sat us immediately and Mo Mo our waiter immediately poured our selection of wine. I enjoyed the calamari appetizer while my husband raved about the goat cheese/raisin stuffed red pepper. My rack of lamb (2 pieces) entree was prepared rare to... More

We dined at Piperade last evening for a special occasion. The food was tasty, and the wine list very well composed. The ambiance was great, except for an older waiter, who knew little about the foods and wine and left us sitting in wait for much of our 2 hours... and then forgot to even put a candle on either... The food is delicious, please try their fries, duck confit, ... I gave it 3 stars instar of 4, because the service was terrible. This was a total disappointment.

The service, cuisine and atmosphere at Piperade all add up to a wonderfully authentic Basque experience. Each dish is unique, well made and delicious. The staff is welcoming and very efficient. Questions about various dishes are answered by obviously knowledgeable and well trained servers. You quickly feel that you're 'in good hands' and can sit back, relax, and enjoy your... More

We chose this restaurant to meet a friend we hadn't seen in a decade. He didn't make it, but we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The place was packed and lively. Our server was amusing and knowledgeable, having (apparently) come from Spain. We wanted a kalimotxo, which is not a drink on the menu, and the server was happy to make one... More

Wonderful place. Good cocktails, and appetizers done to perfection (i think we, a group of 6, tried most of them. Every single one had a personality, a unique blend of texture and taste; my favorite were the anchovies and the octopus). My entree was Sea bass, which was very good but a smallish portion and not particularly spectacular. I gazed... More

Went here with a friend who had a TravelZoo coupon we used -- 2 meals (3 courses) and a glass of wine for $80. Great deal. Great meal! This is a nice little hole in the wall place but the inside is very nicely appointed. The service was solid -- but the food! Yes yes yes! This maybe my first... More
