Classic Nob Hill Cafe

This is a great cafe to eat at if you are staying in Nob Hill. It's simple Italian menu caters for most tats tea and the prices are very reasonable. They take 2-3 seatings a per night so depending on what time you arrive you may not have a long wait, although work on 20-30 minutes.

This was my second visit to the cafe and I was slightly disappointed. We arrived just before the kitchen closed after lunch service. We understood that service would be quick because they wanted to close down but I believe the quality suffered. I had a pasta special with chicken and vegetables with a ginger garlic soy sauce. It was very... More

always so crowded with people waiting on the street. we went at 5;30 and got second to last table for two. veal piccata and pasta are best things to order and low priced red wine. pizza is good, service excellent. chairs are uncomfortable so no lingering over your meal

What a nice change from some of the tourist traps in SFO. A genuine neighbourhood restaurant serving the loyal local clientele. You'll have to wait at busy times but grab a drink from the bar and enjoy the atmosphere. The food is well cooked Italian comfort food, the wine list is reasonably priced. Highly recommended for a cozy, charming experience.... More

Came early, but waited for a nice table in the "other" room. Great service, nice wines and excellent food. Loved the evening. Virtually all neighborhood patrons. Reasonable prices'

We come back to Nob Hill Cafe on our semiannual visits to San Francisco. The place is unusual for is superb and innovative food, and yet very reasonable pricing. The restaurant is small and doesn't take reservations. We usually come early so that we don't have to wait to get a table. The interior is pleasant, albeit a bit crowded,... More

Staying in the city between Christmas and NY we were recommended the Nob Hill Cafe as it was close to our hotel. We arrived about 630pm and had been warned that we may have to queue. We registered our name and were told it would be up to 45min wait. After the time we asked how much longer the wait... More

We arrived at Nob Hill cafe at around 830 on a typical Monday and knew we would have to wait for a table... At 955 the lady in front of house told us that we would have to order in next 5 minutes as kitchen is closing..... We tried to order but she said she couldn't take orders unless they... More

Always try to dine at Nob Hill Cafe. It's a small gem in a big city and quite good! Service and food are excellent. Nob Hill is such a special place and it's nice that this cafe is in the center part. Daily specials are delicious. I had a pasta dish that was delightful!

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
