A very nice casual restaurant

Popped in for a bite while staying on Nob Hill. Very nice food, nice ambience and good wine. This place manages to blend the feel of a cafe with the wine and food of a really good restaurant.

When you know what to expect this place is great. You may end up waiting outside for 30 minutes. The restaurant does not take reservations. it is really casual and really good. Italian. Normal food close to all the hotels on Nob Hill. Easy walk. Just know it is very casual and there is only wine served. So have your... More

I recently ate at Nob Hill Café, given the proximity of my hotel to their location, plus the generally strong Tripadvisor reviews which are usually very reliable. But in this rare occasion, I thought the Tripadvisor reviews were way off the mark. I just ate one of the worst meals I've eaten in the last year. Easily. While the service... More

We went to the Nob Hill Cafe based on Trip Advisor reviews, and weren't disappointed. There was a line-up when we arrived, and we took the time to run an errand and then come back - we were exactly on time, and a table was ready in a couple of minutes. The restaurant is crowded and loud. It's not oppressive,... More

I'd been contemplating Chinese food, but after a long and tiring day in San Francisco just wanted something good and close to my hotel in Nob Hill. So I was delighted to find Nob Hill Cafe getting such positive reviews on TA and just a 'stone's throw' away. I went on a Saturday night and it was busy, busy, busy.... More

This was recommended to us by the concierge at the hotel and without a booking we had a bit of a wait but it was worth it. Small Italian restaurant served superb food of a good quality big portions and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

We were fortunate that the concierge at our hotel (Scarlet Huntington) recommended Nob Hill Cafe. We were looking for a moderately priced, casual restaurant and this fit the bill perfectly. Food was very good ( I recommend the salad with roasted eggplant and tomatoes)-The place was crowded (it does not take reservations). The service was excellent.

I've been going here for about 10 years every time I visit SF. Never disappoints. Great food, quaint and relaxed atmosphere, great service. There's a reason I come back every time I visit...try it for yourself.

I was staying at the Mark Hopkins intercontinental in SF. Nob Hill Cafe is a short 2 and a half blocks from there. We were only ln SF for four days, but we ate at Nob Hill Cafe tbree times. The first time we went, we were waiting for it to open and they saw I was in a mobility... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
