Loved this little gem. Definitely need reservations. Food is amazing. Generous portions. The crab appetizer is amazing as is the butternut squash gnocchi. Dessert a must!!

I have eaten at Scala Bistro probably 30 times, though mainly for lunch. Every time, my meal was good. The pasta dishes are excellent, sandwiches and salads are good, Service is very professional, courteous and attentive.

Dined at Scala's with coworkers for a celebratory dinner following an event in San Fran. Great service. Waitress told us she cldnt separate checks for each party..she told us she could only do a max of four checks. She finally did separate checks after we told her it didnt make sense that she could not separate meals. Everyone said they... More

We ate here on the recommendation from a client of mine back in NZ. Being on a main road where tourists frequent I thought it would be very average. But was very surprised! Food was great and so was the service. Will go back on a next SF visit!

It was a great pleasure to dine at Scala's Bistro in San Francisco. The place is beautiful - everything covered in old wood with vintage ceilings. The service is exquisite - very professional, child-friendly, attentive - everyone working there was great. And the food was stupendous. The linguine and clams was one of the best I've had and the split... More

We had gone to a play nearby and didn't eat before so we looking for a restaurant. Fortunately Scala's Bistro is open until 11. My wife had the Gnocchi (butternut squash gnocchi). It would have been nice if the description had said that it was butternut squash Gnocchi and that it was vegan, which is what she needed. It was... More

If you need slow pace and thoughtful breakfast - come here. Perfect Italian traditions. Coffee was superb. Also worth taking an elevator up to The Drake hotel - something to see, definitely.

Excellent place although wit a lot of people, seems to be very crowed, however it worth the experience. I tried the pasta, home made, it was excellent and even better if you combine it with Napa Chardonay. Service is very respecful, cordial and they are like ghosts, you never realized that they are there, you only notice that your dish... More

Always crowded and that helps make it a good ride. The menu is well thought and the food tasty. Our waitress Anna (wait person?) had great timing and was generally excellent. Anna your accent is charming, my only suggestion is that when a customer tries to be kind to you by asking "what brought you to San Francisco" your answer... More

This was a pre-theater dinner with five friends. Our reservation was promptly honored and service was fast, friendly, helpful. Jeremy was our server and he was great. We had drinks, which included some very creative, tasty bar menu choices. Try the Greyhound! All our entrees received praise, especially roast pork dish. Gnocchi was wonderful, though a larger portion would have... More
