Nice atmosphere, but food a bit rich

Bit difficult to see the menu given the very low level of (red) lighting. Atmosphere very old movie set/ old fashioned. Food was fine but very rich with lots of flavours competing with each other.

Incredible place to grab a bite! Or a drink - full bar! Call first, ask for a window view table on the mezzanine and watch the cable cars climb by! This restaurant is on Powell street, up half a block from Post, basically behind Saks, and it has delicious food, locally sourced, seasonal, Italian inspired. Tin ceiling, oak paneling, comfortable,... More

Mushroom risotto portion was all but delicious and filling. Pancetta wrapped Brancinno was excellent. Tasha was very attentive and provided excellent service to make our 35th anniversary dinner very special

Starter plates here are huge! Melon and prosciutto dish, tomatoes and cucumber dish, mussels, poppardelle dish with pork ragu. Add bread and a $12 glass of chianti and you have a full meal, complete with home-made pasta. Fantastic authentic preparation and wonderful plating. Terrific food and service all around. Great choice for union square locale. Easy to catch a cab... More

We had expected a pizza spot, so this was much nicer and a bit much for the grandchildren's palates. The waiter gave suggestions and guided us through. Tomato- cucumber salad with mozzarella added was very nice. Wild salmon was amazing. Pork chop was good but hanger steak was not as good. We spent more than we thought we would. Ah,... More

Location, hospitality all really good as was the food quality. We are not big eaters but even we were surprised that the Halibut and the Risotto were such small portions by anyones standards. In particular the Risotto was only a little over Appetiser size. Any restaurant should pay careful attention to the balance between quantity and price. Get it wrong... More

The food was very good, although the restaurant is noisy. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is excellent, and dinners are very good. The raspberry clafoutti is excellent!!!

This is an old staple and it's not bad, it's just okay. Best thing is the roast chicken believe it or not. Friend of mine had the fish (2 friends actually) and both thought it over cooked. Staff are nice and the location is great but food is just okay.

We had the misfortune of visiting this restaurant on a recent trip to San Francisco. I can only explain it as an archetypal tourist trap. The place was filthy. The food was absolutely diabolical. Our steaks came out stone cold, when we sent them back they were reheated and arrived tasting of rotten liver with the blood and juices from... More

Dear elizabluebell, Thank you for taking the time to share you feedback with us. It appears we did fall short of your expectations and I'm disappointed in that. We take great pride in the food we serve, and the service we provide, but we usually recover better when we make mistakes. Thank you again for taking the time to write.... More

Dear sf776, It looks like you were disappointed with your experience here. We indeed are in a neighborhood that is frequented by tourists but we've been in business for 20 years serving locals as well. I hope you look us up next time you're in the neighborhood. Alex Desquiron General Manager More
