Nice place in the centre of SF. Many people in evening and cocktail dress, as I understood this place is for special days not for everyday diner too much glamour))) Very good service but anyway reservation is needed. Sometimes you have a memorable evening. Certainly the company and the wine are key components, but the food should be the star and at Farallon it is. In addition to fantastic West Coast seafood recipes. The chef prepared two vegetarian entrees for clients of mine that made the evening spectacular. Their entries even looked like seafood but where not. They... More

We started with the chilled lobster. It was perfect. The monkfish was cooked to perfection. In a place known for seafood, the steak was superb. The service could not have been better. We look forward to our return.

My wife and I included dinner at the Farallon in our anniversary weekend in San Francisco. It was a great experience. The food was great and the service and food presentation was attentive and good. The only problem with this level of restarant is that it is more about the wine than the food. That said the waiter was very... More

After a long week on a business trip I treated myself to a meal at the bar of Farallon. The food was outstanding. The raw bar was excellent and super fresh. A wonderful bisque and equally wonderful entrée. I really like the fact that I can get a first class meal amid the quirky décor of Farallon while sitting at... More

Farallon is near Union Square but is not a tourist trap, it is not even really for tourists. Reservation is required. Ambiance is elegant but not stiff. The staff friendly and accomodating. The food elegant and inventive. The sole was particularly good. Fantastic for a romantic night out. Not the cheapest, but certainly worth it.

Had an amazing meal at Farallon. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was our server while decent was very inattentive. We had to flag him down several times for drink refills etc. and it took over an hour for us to get our meals after the appetizer. Other than that we enjoyed everything about the restaurant. Would definitely... More

Farallon's decor is fantastic, and the service is wonderful. Regrettably, the food isn't at the same level. It's good, but not outstanding, and certainly not worth the price.

This is a wonderful restaurant right at the heart of San Francisco. We were looking for a family friendly restaurant but something good, not too casual, since it was our last night there. Our concierge recommended Farallon. The decoration just mesmerized my children (beautiful jellyfish chandlers and sea urchin light fixtures). The service and food were very good. While we... More

Farallon has to be one of the best dining experiences in the city by the Bay. From the sumptuous artwork, especially the sea creature-themed light fixtures, murals, wavy lines separating table sections, to what comes out on the table, everything is done to perfection. Wait staff are knowledgeable and discreet, not hurrying but very attentive...at least 5 different servers helped... More
