This is a very interesting restaurant, esthetically speaking. It has an ocean theme, with jelly-fish lights and octopus on the mosaic floor. The food was very good. I was disappointed that the restaurant didn't have gluten-free bread, as not everyone can eat wheat products and GF food is now so in vogue. The portion sizes are not that great, but... More

I visited for the first time since was close to my hotel and recommended. The service was SUPER slow, the price very expensive and the food mediocre...not a good combination

The private dining room on the 4th floor is very nice for parties up to 30. Service is fantastic and the food is better! Highy recommend.

Our usual theater going group of six dined at Farallon last night (22 Jan) after seeing Blithe Spirit at the Golden Gate. We arrived around 5:10 but they did not starting seating in the dining room until 5:30 so we chose to not hang out at the bar and did a little window shopping around Union Square. Upon returning we... More

Very good. A bit slow on getting dinner, but worth waiting for if you have the time. Unusual fish preparations. All that we tried worked. Nice wine list. Had the large seafood platter. Wasn't really enough for 5 hungry men. Cod, scallops, all quite good. Superb bread. The decor is up for debate. Under the sea. Kitsch, but fun.

Beware, Steve, the waiter's, oratory description of the fare will leave you wanting more—more foodspeak! He could speak "food" to me all day long... And when the food arrived, it was everything he said. We shared a plate of oysters as an appetizer. I had the Diver's Scallop dinner, my husband, the Sea Bass. Our son was able to customize... More

We came here three or four years back and it stuck in our memory so vividly we had to come back. This time we were slightly hamstrung by an unwell member of our group, so were limited to a main course and a glass of wine before having to leave, but the food we had was superb and the service... Visiting from the east coast and looking for a good seafood place, we did not find it. Didn't like any of it and we tried a lot. From apps to desert, no good. If you like snobby staff and weird seafood dishes you might.

We visited Farallon for a quiet, romantic dinner and were not disappointed. When you walk in, the restaurant looks small, but as you walk to the back it open up onto a huge room where there used to be a swimming pool! The ceiling is original to the building as you can tell from the chips...but only add to the... More

The food and atmosphere at Farallon are wonderful. Except for the chocolate cake, which was on the sweet/dry side, the dishes were all very good-to-excellent. But the service was dreadful, so if you are thinking of Farallon for a special occasion, I cannot recommend it. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time, and 10 minutes after having to...
