Good food anytime but one of the best for late night

Good food at reasonable prices (by SF standards). It is certainly one of the best places in its immediate neighborhood. It has been in business for some time and is well known as one of the best places in SF to get a good meal after 10 PM when most kitchens close.

We first ate at Globe during one of our first trips to San Fran in 1997, at the time we also ate at Boulevard and Farallon, and we were so impressed with the prices and quality at The Globe. So we recently revisited without reservations and they were pretty full so the four of us ate at the bar. The... More

This cute little eatery is great for a late night craving or some apps after drinks. The mac n cheese is one of the best i've ever had! They have awesome salads if you're looking for lighter fair. The drinks and service is good too. Check it out.

This unpretentious restaurant may be a popular dinner site, but it also offers an excellent lunch. Although it's not an extensive luncheon menu, it is more than adequate. The meal began with complimentary onion bread, which is made and baked in the restaurant kitchen each morning. We had an order of pasta, which is also freshly made each day by... More

We had a restaurant.com coupon and the restaurant wasn't very crowded. Despite these flags, we had and excellent, pleasant meal with great service. We had the duck confit with kumquat appetizer and it was so delicious. I ate the lamb and my husband had salmon. It was all perfect. The drinks were affordable and our waitress was great. I was... I met a friend who chose this restaurant. I understand from the reviews that it's more of a late night place. But when we were there at 7 pm it was dead. Just a handful of people in the place. The decor is sparse. It wasn't the kind of atmosphere I'm looking for on a Saturday night. The food was... More

We were looking for a restaurant around 10 pm. Checked some reviews online and wanted to check out Kokkari which had very high ratings. When we arrived it was overcrowded and needed reservations. So we thought we would find anything open and just around the block we found Globe. The menu seemed interesting and very detailed and we ordered the... More

Looking for something within easy walk in the FiDi and made it here. Did not disappoint. Started with the mussels, which were fabulous although I could have worked through them myself rather than sharing with the table. Followed up with the great roasted chicken with farro, asparagus, and mushrooms with citrus gastrique. Hit the spot. Will return!

We were told to go to this restaurant by three people in one night and we were not disappointed. Joe is back in the kitchen and he even brought a couple dishes for us to try. We can't say enough about this place, you have to go.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
