Ask for a seat upstairs as the downstairs area is not conducive to a conversation over dinner. Steady stream of beautiful young couples gathering at the bar; great musicians arrived around 8 p.m.; food was not particularly memorable but the 'night life' vibe was amazing and romantic. Located in the middle of an alley of all places.

Great dinner for a very large party at Bix tonight. There were 15 of us and they did not miss a beat. They went out of their way to make sure everyone had their drink full, food quickly but never rushed us. Don't miss the lobster pasta or the chocolate bread pudding. Yum!!

I had been to Bix several times for drinks and was glad to finally eat here. This is a great spot for people visiting the city (with a little money to spend), an "only in San Francisco" kind of place, unique but not touristy. Bix is hidden away on a short, historic alleyway close to North Beach. Inside, there is... More

Biix is the most fabulous restaurant - fantastic food and incredibly stylish. If you don't go anywhere else treat yourself to dinner at Bix. Quintessentially San Franciscan - make sure you book, very hard to get a table!

Stopped in at 6:30 for the lively bar scene. Standing room only. Ordered 4 drinks from the bartender and the bill was $54 PLUS tip. When he served the drinks, you needed a magnifying glass to find them. The Cosmo came in a the tinniest martini glass ever made -- could have come from a set of doll dishes. The... More

We had the swordfish and lobster spaghetti and absolutely loved it, really great flavours. We didn't have a reservation, so arrived early enough, thankfully, to get a walk-in table before the real rush started. We loved it, definitely recommend this restaurant.

Stopped in for evening drinks and was treated to live jazz! Atmosphere was upscale but not pretentious. Wonderful service.

We went here on a Friday night, and this place was jumping. Plenty of action at the bar, and no empty tables - reservations definitely recommended. I believe we sat at table 37, which was upstairs/center offering a 66% view of the three piece band, full view of the bar and a great view of the place overall. The music... More

My first time here. We called at 6:00pm and the squeezed our party of 5 in quickly - with the provision that we were out by 8:00pm. Very reasonable request and we had pleanty of time. Wait staff was very attentive. We sat upstairs and had a great view of the bar. Around 7:15 the piano player and bass player... More

The entrance to the Bix is like a back alley speakeasy straight out of the prohibition era- A very neat place- We didn't have reservations and the place was packed so we had appetizers and cocktails at the fabulous bar which we really enjoyed- Great art deco interior- We will be back!
