Wow! Will definitely be back!

This was our favorite restaurant on our recent trip to San Francisco. Very cool, art deco and Old Hollywood style place. Service was very good and food was also great! Will definitely return!

This was our third visit to Bix over the past few years and it seemed a bit "flat": service was so-so, food was fine but not worth the price. HOWEVER, the live music (piano playing old standards) was outstanding.

This is the second time I have eaten at Bix, but the first on a Saturday night, a day when I really don't like going to restaurants. My experience each night was different, but I chalk that up to weekday versus weekend dining. Bix is a fun place to go: it's located in a narrow alley, so you really feel... More

We had a great meal at Bix and our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We are in SF for a "girls' weekend" - and it was a perfect place for that. We shared the firecracker shrimp, which was delicious. My sister had the chicken hash and I had the lobster pasta. Both were very rich and tasty. We shared banana... More

Great drinks! Great food! The staff was amazing and made my birthday a special day. I would definitely return. It was recommended by my cousin, who used to live in the area.. I'm still thanking him for it. It wasn't walking distance from our hotel, but the cab fare was inexpensive.

I ate here for a business dinner and one word comes to mind for the staff: douche. Sorry, but the whole pomp and circumstance was so over the top it kind of killed the experience. The food is pretty good, but its not worth the price. We had the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu and it was $80.... More

Wow - we had my wife's best friend in town from England along with her boyfriend. We were there last Saturday night and had reservations at 8:30 pm. The four of us were seated upstairs and experienced a great dinner. The primary reason I am writing this review is because of the dish that I ordered. It was the Compart... More

So our group drops almost $1,000 at this restaurant. Food and service are fine. On our way out, I loop back to get change for a $20 to tip the valet. The bartender then does the "change for $10 trick" -- he gives me just $10 in change, instead of $20. Now PLEASE. . . . I know that I... More

Ask for a seat upstairs as the downstairs area is not conducive to a conversation over dinner. Steady stream of beautiful young couples gathering at the bar; great musicians arrived around 8 p.m.; food was not particularly memorable but the 'night life' vibe was amazing and romantic. Located in the middle of an alley of all places.

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
