So good a went back the next night!

Great seafood. Sand dabs are excellent in season. If you are alone traveling on business, you feel great sitting at the bar and talking with the bar men in white aprons. Feels a wonderful hundred years old.

I really like this place, good, friendly bar staff and very fresh seafood. No reservations accepted, so go early and have a drink at the bar. Grilled fish dishes are the best, vegetable sides are actually done well (no over-cooking, etc.).

Suffering for the curse of too much popularity for too long. Waiter was a bit of a jerk. Irritated that we didn't order drink. I had Chiopino - it was very good. Lots of meat. Wife had Halibut. Nice piece of fish, good veggies, ridiculously lazy potatoes.

I have been eating at the Tadich Grill for many years. It is California's oldest and in my opinion best restaurant. The decor takes you back about 50 years with tons of hardwood. There is a horseshoe shaped dining bar, many tables and some semi-private booths. The waiters' average tenure is about 27 years. The food is fresh daily and... More

Push the door of this restaurant, and get transported back to the fifties. Big wooden bar or small tables. All the waiters have white "lab coats". This restaurant is more than 100 years old, and on the Forbes top 10 restaurants. Seafood specialties like the Seafood cioppino are excellent, and the crab is served without it's shell (!!). A bit... Really enjoyed dinner here. Pot Roast was wonderful as was the Chilean Sea Bass. Sat at the counter. Staff is wonderful. Worth the wait.

My father first took me to Tadich's when I was in college. Have returned myriad times. The restaurant is world famous and legendary. However, in my world, quality and service trump ( loathe to use that word) reputation. Recently, We had the dull waiter who was - perhaps anxious to clear the table- and removed my clients plate before I... More

Went here last night as a party of four. Two of us are from San Fran and who have been frequently. Arrived just before 8pm and were told it would be 15-20 mins for a table, so got drinks. Our names were called about 10 mins later, and we were shown to a lovely table in a side booth at... More

I stopped here for lunch and had the Seafood Cioppino with garlic bread that contains a variety of different seafood. It was awesome. Established in 1849 during the California gold rush this is the oldest restaurant/bar in California and the third oldest restaurant/bar in the United States. Tadich Grill is in the top 10 worldwide most classic restaurants. They have... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
