Good Food, Good Service!

The food was fresh and well seasoned! My Pacific Red Snapper was delicious! The cheese cake had to be one of the creamiest I have ever had. (I've tasted a lot of cheese cake) I would highly recommend dining here.

Tadich Grill is California's oldest restaurant established in 1849. Normally that'd be code speak for past its prime but NOT so in this case. Yes...tourists (my wife and I included) flock here but you'll need to duke it out with the locals to stand in line for a (no reservations accepted) table. TIP: if available ask for a booth for... No reservations so go early or be prepared to wait. You can eat at the bar, one of the most active you'll find with customers bantering with the white-coated waiters/bar tenders and them giving it right back! Same food if you wait for one of the quieter booths. Menu has a wide variety of food, from soups to steaks to... More

Hadn't been here in several years, but it never disappoints. We had the calamari steak and the sand dabs - both excellent. Old style waiters in white coats and aprons. Very crowded so go early as the do not take reservations or you will be waiting a long time in the noisy bar.

Will have to go back for dinner, stopped by for drinks at the oldest restaurant in San Francisco. White coats and black ties, very old school atmosphere. Great for Martinis and Manhattans. Try the Moscow Mule for a lighter sweeter drink. Amazing!! the staff were engaging and very aware of their customers' needs and saw to them immediately. Peter was... More

We ate at the Tadich last month. I agree with others who say it is like taking a step back in time. Very classic decor. Waiters in white coats. It is located not he California Street cable car line so easy to get to with out a taxi. Food was very good… we both had fish dishes which were very... More

Wow! The bread is good. Spend your carb calories on the bread! I had heard only good things about this restaurant. It was also featured on the "best every..." series on Food Network. The show featured the sand dabs. I ordered that. It was very good but perhaps my expectations were raised because of the program. I still very much... More

If you want "old school" it doesn't get much better than Tadich Grill. Nothing trendy or chic about well prepared classics served by well preserved classics. Dungeness crab leg sauté - flawless preparation in which the crab is the star with no foofy flavors competing with the delicious seafood. Crabcakes - to die for. The wait staff - white coats,... No reservations so be prepared to wait in line if you go during peak hours. We purposely planned a late lunch and got right in. The food is amazing and the service spot on. Great history to the place and the locals love it so you know it's good. Also fun to eat at the bar. Watching those guys work... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
