Old Favorite - Still Great

The Tadich Grill has been around for over 150 years! I hadn't been there in a while. Seafood is the specialty, but there's enough of a variety for anyone. Authentic San Francisco Sour Dough Bread, fine service. Be advised they only take Mastercard and Visa. Of course, this is a step up - they only... read more

As usual the atmosphere was great, service was good, drinks excellent, crab cocktails very good. I had a Manhattan which was very good. My wife had a martini which was excellent. the crab cocktails very good, lots of crab. The problem was the main course. My wife had a Louie Salad which was terrible. The presentation and the taste just... More

There are several places that are must haves when dining in downtown San Francisco, and Tadich Grill is one of them. Tadich is a seafood place and don't go there for anything else. Be sure to arrive early because seating is limited and sitting at the bar is usually my first choice for faster seating. The sourdough bread is the... More

My second visit while travelling on business. Seafood is superb, cioppino particularly good. Rice pudding custard just like grandma used to make. Atmosphere unique... busy, loud and fun. Sit at the dining bar area. I will be back!

I had heard so many wonderful things about this restaurant (one of the oldest in San Francisco) has built a reputation for great seafood, and we weren't disappointed. It has a busy, fun atmosphere, great food and good drinks. They don't take reservations, but the wait is just long enough to have a drink at the bar.

I'd heard about Tadich Grill from a Priest, for whom I Chef. Said it was the best Cioppino that he'd ever had. Well, they delivered! A San Francisco resident, very familiar with Tadich, knew that for fast seating @ Lunch, be on the sidewalk before their 11 A.M. opening. I drove into downtown by 10:15, to park in a garage,... My wife and I wanted to dine on typical San Fran seafood. One could always toddle down to Fisherman's wharf - yeah ...... how many times eh !! So we asked Andy a delightful & mature shop assistant at Macy's Mens store. Having asked Andy ....I had to look around if he was working at Macy's or Tadich's. - So,... More

We read that Tadich was a San Francisco institution and decided to give it a try. Everything was well made and tasty, and the service was professional and pleasant, and not intrusive. I do think this would be a difficult place to eat if one doesn't like seafood, but I think they have something for every seafood lover. I'd like... More

Every time I come to SF I try to visit the Tadich Grill. It is as much fun for the chaotic order as for the consistently good and fresh seafood as experienced hosts, waiters and bartenders serve food and drink and entertain and manage large numbers of guests. If a noisy and boisterous ambiance is not your cup of tea... More

Tadich Grill never fails to provide excellent food and service each time we get to visit San Francisco from our home in Iowa. All staff were very efficient and appreciative of our business. This restaurant is on our "must visit" list each trip.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
