Great seafood as always

My oysters Rockefeller was fresh and covered with spinach and parmigiano. Clam chowder the best. The woodwork gleams and the new paint job is soft and lovely good for another 100 years

Trip Advisor helped us find this restaurant during our 5 night stay in San Francisco. We showed up on a Friday night without reservations and needless to say had to wait. However, that was not bad, plenty of action at this busy restaurant to watch. Spots opening up at the bar on a regular basis and very proactive and hospitable... More

This is a genuine San Francisco restaurant that serves good food, especially sea food and fish. The restaurant is loud, but the atmosphere is friendly (but a little rushed..). If you come alone you will be seated along the long bar where you have a good overview of the often very busy place.

My husband and I had dinner here to celebrate my birthday. When we first moved to the Bay Area, we went to the Tadich Grill. That was 32 years ago. The ambiance, the wait staff, the table settings, the drinks and the food hadn't changed since last time we were there. That has to say something.

For over a hundred years this restaurant has served the most exquisite fish on the planet. I have been coming here since my college days....over 50 years ago. The Newburgh and other casserole dishes are their specialty. The bread is the very best sourdough with a perfect crust. The waiters have years of experience and anticipate your needs without hovering.

Our visit here was a surprise for my 50th birthday before heading on to a show...what an AWESOME treat! I adore old world feel and surroundings, and Tadich Grill didn't disappoint! From the time we were seated in our own little wooden "cubicle" ( so private, so cozy!) we were treated to wonderful service, great cocktails and delicious food! We... More

We get to SF a couple times a year and Tadich Grill is always a must! My husband only orders the cioppino every time we come. Waiters are a riot! Barry is especially a hoot! These guys are top notched, well-seasoned and seem to read your mind! Thanks Tadich Grill for all the years!!

If you like traditional/old school (lots of dark wood), loud restaurants that serve good food, but not great, then Tadich Grill is the place for you. The seafood is fresh and the main courses are tasty, but not exceptional. For an appetizer, I ordered the Prawn Cocktail which included fresh, tender, and large prawns. However, there was barely enough cocktail... More

Apparently the oldest restaurant in SF. The fish is much fresher though. No reservations; most seats are at a bar running the length of the restaurant; some seats in booths at the side. Moderate to high prices but worth it. Good experience.

My first trip to San Francisco and reading Afar magazine on the plane and they had an article on this place. We checked our bags and headed over. Great old style bar that essentially runs the length of this narrow restaurant. It also has table seats on the other side, but it's not a large place. We had the Cipiono... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
