Fabulous Restaurant, Unique Taste!!

This restaurant is good enough to be called the best restaurant of the city. A very enjoyable atmosphere couple with some outstanding eatables is what that makes this restaurant stand out! Highly recommended!

I used Open Table to book a reservation for dinner with a relative who was visiting from out of town. I had no worries about my reservation because someone from Kokkari called to confirm it a few days before. We were 10 minutes early but were shown to a table right away. It was one of the nicest restaurants I've... More

We could definitely tell why we had to make reservations a few months in advance, the food was amazing and the service was above and beyond! Our waiter was so nice and knowing we were tourists, offered us some great advice on places to go after dinner. My husband got the lamb chops and I wish I would have. They... More

My husband and I stopped in here on a rainy, windy Friday afternoon for a cocktail in the bar. The bartender was as sour as they get. He took our drink order but that was all the energy he was going to use on us. I asked for water and that is what I got, no ice like everyone else.... More

The SF Chronicle says this place is #1 in SF. If you want to be seen or see this is the place to go but it's not my type of place. Beautiful place, well decorated, but huge, many rooms, noisy, not romantic or intimate by any means. They have 8-10 cooks working in the open kitchen. If you want to... More

I am not sure how to describe Kokkari's. It's highly rated if not number one ranked in the city. We were able to get reservations for 6pm. Its a formal place -- perhaps too formal for us. Wait staff was impeccable in knowledge and in giving recommendations. We had a few small plates and then entrees. All were good. I... More

This place was rec'd by every local I spoke to as the best Greek in the city. It didn't disappoint. We walked in with no reservation and it was busy and full but we were able to get a table within 10 mins. Our waiter was knowledgeable and easily able to explain the various options on the menu. We started... More

Even though we arrived early (4PM), we had to wait to be seated at the bar. Manager was very helpful in setting our expectations of where we were in the pecking order to make sure we were seated appropriately (thanks team - very professionally done!). My wife and I had an outstanding experience browsing through their menu in a tasting... More

We made reservations on a Thursday at 6:15 and it was necessary. The restaurant was quite large and tables were close together but between our table and the next table was a decorative floor lamp so it didn't seem so bad. I have never smelled such wonderful aromatic scents in a restaurant before. There are several rooms and we were... More

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
