As soon as I entered this lovely establishment I was in love. The décor and warmth transports you to the Mediterranean. It is simply beautiful. The menu is to die for as well. I was with a group of 6. We shared dinner tapas style and every item was amazing. Some of my favorites were the large fava... read more

Savory Greek restaurant with electric, eclectic mix of authentic Greek cuisine, not to be missed. Easily joins personal Top 10 restaurants in San Francisco! Favorite dishes include the Garides Skordates-wood-oven roasted prawns with cherry tomatoes & garlic butter -Mezethes (starter), Maroulosalata-salad of romaine lettuce,& radicchio with toasted pine nuts, Kalamata olives & creamy feta cheese dressing; Kirios Piato (1st course)... Wonderful appetizers. Lamb, Retsina wine and Barbiyanni ouzo. For dessert we had tangerine sorbet with ouzo which was delicious.

The venue itself is exceptionally well planned with spacious and comfortable seating and great ambiance with views of the ovens and kitchen and even full, it has a relaxed easiness to it. And then there is the food: it is top notch. Certainly it's the best Greek I've had in SF and some of the best Greek food I've had... More

Amazing food, simply put! Light, tasty and full of flavor. Eat It! We were very happy after our meal and began traipsing around the neighborhood and to our delight we ended up at one of the oldest drinking establishments in SF. Old Ship Saloon.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. The food is unique, the service is impeccable, and the ambience is perfect. It's rare that one can find a Greek restaurant of this high caliber anywhere.

As with any place you find your dish and that's what you have everytime you go. I work in San Francisco, CA and maybe go here two or three times a year for a long lunch. Love the appetizers, haven't found one I didn't like. My dish is the chicken kabob. Practically lick my plate clean. It's probably nothing special... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
