Both my boss and the concierge recommended this restaurant when my husband and I were looking for a great Chinese restaurant in SF. And Brandy Ho's didn't disappoint! It's a very casual restaurant at the edge of Chinatown with fantastic food and very fast and attentive service! You must try the onion cake! The steamed dumplings were also very good.... More

This place was seriously good. Basic decor, very friendly manager and knockout food. Would steer away from the smoked things on the menu, but everything else was great.

This place has perhaps the BEST hot & sour soup we've ever had! And the dumplings are phenomenal...great spice/heat to everything! And great prices...definitely worth a visit!

I love this place. It's been my favorite restaurant in SF since the mid 80s, and my recent visit (2/16/14) was as enjoyable as ever. Cold noodle is still excellent; Kung Pao Chicken is still excellent; Smoked Ham with Garlic is a new revelation. I would not visit this city without a stop at Brandy Ho.

I've been eating at this restaurant for 30 years and my recent visit fell short. I've sent countless people to this location over the past 3 decades and I'll need to eat there again to see if I continue to have it on my top SF restaurant list. Here's a list of what was different/not-so-good. -new waiter that didn't seem... More

Just a block away as the tourists gather at House of Nanking, which btw, is tasty, and wait an hour for a table, Brandy Ho's which is Hunanese, is always available. The food is spicy, a bit too salty at times, and plentiful. For someone that lives in LA on the westside, and not willing to drive always to the... More

The staff and food was all right nothing special on it. I think it's a bit overpriced for a quiet small portions given to us.

I have been coming to Brandy Ho's since 1991 and always enjoy it. I was in there in 2012 and I feared food was slipping, but I ate there again December 2013 and things seemed back to the higher standard that I know. They have toned down the hotness, as other commenters have noted, but when you order they ask... More

First visit here as it was a recommendation. The staff were OK but food a little disappointing, and not hot enough heat-wise. They did reheat the meals but the magic had faded by then. Maybe they were having an off-day, so will try again on our next visit to SF because of the reputation.
