You just have to trust me and go here if your in San Francisco...

While in San Francisco for a business meeting wife and I along with a business buddy decided on the spur of the moment to grab a bite of lunch. I happen to know my buddy from New York is a major foodie. We said you pick the place, so he did. When we arrived, we said, you do the ordering,... read more

The House is just a great find in San Francisco. We went for lunch, and everything was great, including the service which was quick and efficient but not hovering. This is apparently a husband and wife place, and they are involved with everything. it is definitely on the small side with not a lot invested in the ambience, but who... More

The Asian flavors of the food served is unique and tasty. The four of us shared two small plates, dumplings and a fried shrimp salad and two entrees . It was enough food for all. The halibut special of the evening with some coconut sauce ( tastes way better than it sounds) was wonderful. My issue was the service. It... More

I work in the neighborhood, and have been on a pursuit of exploring food and drink nearby. Husband joined me on a Friday, we hit a couple of places with the intent of eating at one of a few different choices I had in mind. Read great reviews about The House, but without reservations on a Friday, I had no... More

The House is a small restaurant, simply furnished. The staff were very nice. They had an interesting selection of beers. The food was very good to excellent. We shared a salad and a tempura roll to start. We had curry noodles with chicken, wasabi noodles with salmon and a tuna BLT sandwiches. The prices were really moderate. It's a small... More

I read the reviews on this restaurant and had to try it and the suggestions made! Good choice!!! It's a tiny place in Chinatown and you have to get there early, but they do make reservations. We had the fried salmon rolls to start, and I asked them to cook them all the way through. It was so good! Then... More

I have been to this restaurant in January as a guest. It is a very small one, approx. 45 seats ?! and a very busy one! Why? Because of the quality of the foods they serve. It is a "fusion" menu'… the quality is excellent!! Make sure you have a reservation because otherwise there is no way you can get... More

My boyfriend and I went to The House for a dinner after we saw the great reviews. We expected the food to be good but we did not expect it to be SO AMAZING! I had the miso cod for entree, the fish itself was tender and delicious and the miso sauce was really good with interesting and special flavors.... More

My wife and our teenage daughter and son spent Spring Break in San Francisco. My wifes’ niece is a local and suggested we meet for dinner at The House, an Asian-Fusion place located in a skinny and unpretentious North Beach rectangle not far from Little Italy. The service was friendly and unhurried. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and happily suggested... More

I was given a strong recommendation by my client- a local to the bay area. Glad I took him up on it. Best pork chops I've had in a long, long, long time. A restaurant chain back home in Vancouver used to have a mongolian pork chop as one of it's signature dishes. They took it off the menu years... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
