We are from out of town and were conducting business nearby and asked for a recommendation for Asian food, since we don't get exceptional Asian food where we live. All four of our hosts blurted out "The House." It is a very tiny restaurant and the tables are packed together. It was full but we were told it would only... More

Had a great evening with our very picky swedish family when it comes to good food. Alot of people come here, make a reservation the night before or earlier. Great service, a lot of todays specials. Highly recommend ordering multiple SMALL dishes for sharing, these were the best dishes. Enjoy!

Creative Asian/fusion cuisine. Reservations recommended. Noisy, energetic, very good food, a few tables for groups of 6; most tables are for 2 or 4.

Found this place to ear near Chinatown and were very happy with it. The food was delicious and different and the service was great. We arrived near the end of lunch time, but everyone was friendly and helpful. The octopus was delicious, but so was everything else. The wasabi noodles are a must.

Recommended by a friend that frequents San Fran for business. We had dinner there while on vacation in San Francisco. Their sushi was excellent, mussels delicious...my husband and daughters had a sea bass special and loved it.

I've been here many times and we decided to go here for dinner tonight. It was not crowded and we didn't have a reservation for a Monday night and we sat down right away. We ordered the shrimp and chives dumpling and grilled octopus for appetizers. Both were delicious. Octopus was tender. for entrees, I ordered the kurobuta pork chop... More

Great service. Wonderful owners who know what they're doing in the kitchen! The tempura green beans are a must! Also the curry chicken noodles are to die for. Pork chop with pomegranate currant sauce is by far my favorite. Small cozy dining setting. Go enjoy some of the best food that will ever grace your lips!

Excellent cuisine, friendly staff and great consistency make The House my favorite restaurant in San Francisco. Be sure to try the salmon rolls and the wasabi noodles. The chicken salad and the sea bass are also excellent. Try all that you can and if possible, try some more. Flavors pop and dollar for dollar, The House provides excellent value. In... More

The House is an outstanding example of Asian Fusion cuisine. If you enjoy this style of cooking, you are unlikely to be disappointed. Plenty to choose and a great variety. Best idea: Choose a selection of dishes and share! Dishes are generous and this will keep the cost down, although it's not outrageously expensive . My complaint though is with... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
