Good local place

Nice clean burger place in north beach. Although burgers not the only item on menu, the two of us had fantastic burgers. Cooked to order, handmade burgers. Thick and juicy and messy. Sometimes the messier the burger, the better. Buns were fresh and excellent. We got soda, French fries, and... read more

So glad we came across this place! We went in on a Monday morning for breakfast, and although the service was lacking a bit (place was busy, took around 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, only one waitress working the whole place and you could see completed plates lined up and waiting to be delivered for several minutes). The... More

The breakfasts at Mo's are large, good tasting and are worthwhile to have. Mo's also serves big, good tasting burgers at a reasonable price. I ordered the meatloaf special and found it to be less desirable. The meatloaf was soft and mushy and had very little taste to it. The fries were also hard as a brick. I still would... More

Reviews of Mo's by locals and tourists alike made this a great little place for the preteens to experience dinner in a real "diner". Food was very good and service fantastic. Everything you want the neighborhood place to be as you explore the North Beach neighborhood.

Wandered in to this little gem on a Sunday evening with a party of 8. The food was delicious. Cold beers and milkshakes for the teenagers. Only one waitress on this evening but she did her absolute best to service the entire establishment. I'm definitely coming back.

I love my adopted city for sure, but it's difficult to find what we New Yorkers would call a "normal" coffee shop or diner. But Mo's - recently recommended by friends in the neighborhood - is the real thing. Veggie omelet was packed with spinach, etc. Coffee is passable. And they don't fuss about making you a plate of eggs... More

I like this place. It has a 60s diner ambiance and a good vibe. I owned a coffee shop in Old Town Portland for 10 years and I can tell you that this place is run by professionals. Breakfast was great. No disappointments.

This city has a lot of good breakfast joints. In fact, I was off to Mama's this morning but alas, they are closed on Mondays. I headed back towards the hotel and opted to find something new and went one block off of Columbus. I saw Mo's and thought " Why not?" The food was excellent and there is a... More

The Mo's Grill has everything you would wish for! A nice selection of beers and a decent grill menu. I went for the California burger which was amazing! Ice cold beer on the side and friendly staff made this place an instant favourite!

Not much I can say other than this being the best burger place I have visited in a long time. Nice setting, sort of like old style diner. Ginormous burgers. Delicious!

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
