Nice chinese restaurant

It seems to be a very traditional chinese restaurant around chinatown. The egg rolls were amazing and the seasoning of the mongolian beef was also great but the meat was terrible, I advice eating chicken instead of beef

4 of us went for dinner in Chinatown last week and used tripadvisor for a suggested restaurant. Hunan Home lived up to the good rating and exceeded in the quality of food. Attentive wait staff. Had to wait about 10 minutes not bad for the great food. Good beer selection as well.

I always go to Hunan Home for their Hot and Sour Soup. It does wonders when you are trying to nurse your cold. Their other dishes are always comforting and although some dishes are spicy but the heat definitely add a punch to the food. I shouldn't eat that much rice but the sauces are so good that one can't... More

I found the two dishes I tried at Hunan Home's to both be Very, Very Good. For an appetizer i ordered Wonton in Hot Sauce ($6.50), and as main course Beef w/ Orange Peel ($11.95). The Orange Beef was the best i have had in a long, long time, cooked and flavored perfectly. There was a wait for a table,... More

There were four of us tourists looking for a place to eat lunch in Chinatown. We saw the good ratings on Trip Advisor and we were only a block away, so we decided to try it. We all ordered a main dish and drink, plus two appetizers to share. the total bill was only $66 before tips. The restaurant has... More

It may not look the most glamorous or even authentic of Chinatown restaurants but don't be deceived- an excellent example of a local family run eatery common in London's Chinatown three decades ago but now sadly missing there: so great to see that SF' s Chinatown has still got this type of down to earth but good food and value... We came to this restaurant based upon research the couple we went with had done and we were so happy they found this place. The hot and sour soup was incredible and the wonton soup our friends ordered looked fresh and plentiful. We had a taste of their spring rolls and they were awesome too - crisp and fresh! The... We walked past many restaurants in Chinatown, many of which were quite empty, so we were pleased to see that the place recommended to us, Hunan Home's, was crowded. The service was OK, but unfortunately the food was nothing special, which was surprising. Bland flavors and average taste (although the portions were large). Nothing bad, but nothing great.

Great food and atmosphere. Try to book or you could be disappointed. It's worth waiting for if you do turn up without a reservation. Great family restaurant.

I judge chinese restaurants by their hot and sour soup. May not be fair, but that is how I do it. This is the BEST hot and sour soup I've ever had. Came here for lunch and was absolutely delighted. The Hunan Chicken was spicy (beware the spice!) and each mean is topped off with hot tea, orange slices and... More
