Adjacent to Executive Hotel Vintage Court on the boarder of San Francisco’s Union Square and Nob Hill, Masa’s offers superlative service and exquisite California French cuisine elevated to new heights by Executive Chef Gregory Short. For over 25 years and continuing in the tradition of legendary founder Masataki Kobayashi, Masa’s has made its reputation with a succession of world-renowned chefs that have deftly walked the line between culinary adventure and classicism. Nicely renovated inside. Also a very central position The service was appalling- slow & unfriendly. We arrived for breakfast and was told we were too late and that there were too many orders ahead of us and that the kitchen was closing at 10. So we were turned away. We tried again the next day and again, very grumpy, flustered... More

Excellent tastes along with wonderful wine pairings. Unfortunately, chef is leaving and restaurant, to my knowledge, is closing. I understand that in future, the chef will be opening a new restaurant.

After a long flight from Melbourne, Australia we were looking for a low key quiet dinner before slouching off to bed to catch up with the jet lag. This restaurant is attached to the Executive Hotel Vintage Court @ 650 Bush St and residents get a special discount. Met a winemaker at the evening wine tasting who told us about... More

Food was excellent, as expected for the price, but the service was a bit rushed. Thought there should have been more "little bites", you know the small little special tastings that the chef provides as a surprise in between courses. Wine was paired and was good, not great, and seemed to be lesser priced varietals. Overall, glad we went.

I've known of Masa's for ever, it's been around. There are a lot of mixed reviews on here and I'm sorry to say this is one of them. First off the food was tasty and well made, but nothing was exciting. It did not have that "wow" like another reviewer said. The bar is small and minimal, you don't want... More

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Masa's on New Year's Eve. The decor is lovely, with an eclectic use of modern art and fixtures alongside traditional toile upholstered seating. The setting was made even more festive by the addition of white, silver and black balloons covering the ceiling. The food, a varied set menu (available to view in advance online),... More

We had a wonderful time here, great food, service, atmosphere. It couldn't have been better. I think it was worth every penny!

We had a very lovely dinner last night at Masa's. The few things that weren't quite right were fairly minor but I was a bit disappointed that the "wow" moments were far less frequent than the "this is really good" ones. The positives: Very friendly and engaging staff. Food was nearly flawless. We did the nine-course tasting menu with wine... More

We had a lovely dinner with friends. The service was good and the wine list was very nice. The portions are very small and there are only a few choices. The cheese cart had a very limited selection and the cheeses were served with a few slices of bread, no dried fruit or nuts. Over all, the squab and quail... More

This was one of those nights when you expect the food to be good and everybody has told you its going to be good but it just didn't happen. The dishes seemed forced and ultimately didn't deliver the flavor that was hoping for and expecting. The server recommended our meats to be cooked rare and although several at the table... More
