We made a couple of day trips into San Francisco during our stay in the East Bay area. Our daughter had read about it and our DIL, living in the East Bay, knew where it was. Prior to heading in on the BART, we all had a pre breakfast snack to hold us over as we knew there would be... More

We visited on Saturday of Easter weekend. While some posts say to wait until later in the day to get a seat, it doesn't guarantee you will not find a line. We got there at 1:37 and were finally seated at 2:50. Service is great. Food is fab. Try the Kuglehpf and be sure to use the homemade jam instead... More

I've lived in North Beach for 5 years now and have been to Mama's over a dozen times. I always take friends from out of town and have never once had a bad experience. Don't get me wrong, you always have to wait in line (unless you go 30-60minutes before they open), but I have never been disappointed or felt... More

We were a bit arrogant turning up to mamas on our first day in SF at 9am - and expecting the queues to be manageable ...WRONG. The queues at 7:30 in the morning on any weekend are ridiculously long....but the food more than compensates for the early morning rise and hour long wait. MUST have the carrot cake....and just about... More

We saw the line. It was long. It was Tuesday. I looked at my pregnant wife who was about to eat my hand and we decided we'd be the first in line on Wednesday morning. I believe that's the secret. Don't get me wrong. We still waited about 40 minutes. We were in line by 7:40 and sat down after... More

Don't get me wrong - the food and service here was fantastic. I had the Northern Italian M'omelette and carrot cake - YUMMM! The servers were prompt and very friendly. My big question - was it worth an hour wait outside, then an additional 20-25 minute wait for ordering and getting a seat? Quick answer: no If you do decide... More

I waited an hour (from the time I lined up until the time I got my food). It was good but, for me it was not worth the wait. I had a veggie omelette, which came with their home fried potatoes and sourdough toast (from Boudin - which I love). It was good, but nothing to write home about. The... More

This small breakfast place is one of the required-by-law things to do in San Francisco, along with visiting Alcatraz and riding the cable cars. So, it's always busy. It opens at 8am and on weekends there is already a long line waiting. We walked by it on a Sunday morning and decided to come back on a weekday (closed Monday,... More

I hold the long line near the wall of the building and got hungry and hungry...finally the omelette was good, but it was different from the one I ordered. The place is small, the service nice but..it don't worth the long line...

We had a delicious breakfast here today. The short queue increased the anticipation. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The staff helpful and attentive. I had the corned beef hash benedict special with a fruit salad. Both were excellent. My wife had the vegetarian omelette. She said it was awesome. Highly recommended.
