There are plenty of breakfast places in The City. But 2 stands out for me. Dotties and this one Mama's on Washington Square. It's smack in between Chinese and the Italian districts and it sits in the corner. Decor is cozy. Once you survived the long line , you step inside and is greeted by the cacophony of scents, eggs... We arrived before opening on a weekday and were seated at the communal table in the entry way. We ended up sitting there the whole time without much company. But towards the end, a large party of 7 arrived and wanted our table. Made it hard to enjoy a leisurely breakfast while the hungry family hovered over us, eying our... More

We went on a weekday at 11:30am and waited for over an hour to be seated. First, you wait outside, then when you are in, you wait in line to order. Then You wait again for your Food to be prepared and then for a Table to open. French Toast was good, as were the Hash Browns. The Fruit Plate... More

This tiny restaurant puts out the best breakfast you will have in San Francisco. The wait time is very lone up to two hours on the weekend . Either get there at 8 when it opens or go for a brunch later. But go and enjoy !

A friend suggested Mama's to me. We went on a weekday for a late breakfast. The line was quite long but we decided to wait it out and we were very glad we did. There were 4 of us and we all ordered something different. Everything was great. They have unique omelets that you don't see other places. The pancakes... More

In summary, if you have another option, go there. Hype does not live up to expectations. Arrived at 745am - restaurant meant to open by 8am. Waited till 930am to be seated. Ordered the Dungess Crab Omelette and a slice of Orange Cranberry French Toast. My expectations were over the roof with all the raving reviews about these two. Boy,... More

I went there during my Spring break and it was worth waiting the long line which took almost 1,5-2 hours. However as soon as we were seated, the atmosphere and the food was great. Must go in SF!

Definitely worth the wait! Outstanding service and delicious food! I had the Mexican omelette, best ever!! While waiting in line we took turns visiting the cathedral down the street and got focaccia across the street!

Worth the wait! Get there about thirty minutes before opening for the first seating. Had the French toast combo and it was incredible. Coffee cup never got below half full as the service is top notch.
