Great food but LONG wait...

While on vacation with my family this was one of the places that I really wanted to go to. We ended up waiting in line for about 90 minutes. I've never waited that long before but after being there for a while I couldn't give up. I was glad that my kids (teens) didn't want to come anyways and... read more

At the begining you have to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. Then you have to have cash or debit card,no other way to pay...thats the bad thing...but...when you eat the benedict eggs with crispy bacon you forget everything!simply the best...pancakes are good but not so good as the eggs. The service is fast and very helpful especially Sirus(had only... More

mamas is good , but the wait is not worth it. Lots of fresh good food but around the corner you will find plenty of restaurants with out a 20-40 min Wait.

Longest I have ever waited for an order of eggs benedict, but it was AMAZING and well worth the wait. I arrived at 11:00 am on a Sunday, got in line, and by the time I had a plate of scrumptious Paisano Benedict in front of me it was about 12:45. I over heard one of the staff telling a... More

I was excited to try this place but once i did I wasn't happy afterwards. A guy (waiter) standing at the door was rude without me saying anything to him at all. Their food was average breakfast. Just eggs, toast, fruit.. Like a breakfast I could do on my own. Not going there again.

We arrived in the middle of a rainstorm so luckily only a short wait for us. The breakfast was lovely - we ordered Eggs Benedict Paisano and Huevos Rancheros. The Benedict was the better choice with the bacon and peppers adding lots of flavour. The Huevos Rancheros was also nice but too much rice and beans which didn't have a... More

If you are a good traveler you would read few reviews of a place before going to eat at it, that's what I did. All reviews were good and recommending the place for a good breakfast in San Fransisco. The thing is I was going Solo, and when I arrived there was a line, and boy it was a long... More

Yes, you may have to stand in line outside. Patrons are allowed in to a open (behind glass) kitchen to see food prep, read the extensive menu options and then place your order. With your order number in hand, you are directed to an empty table. Then the attentive, efficient and friendly service begins, first with your beverage order and... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
