The best Mel's is Mel's on Sunset in West Hollywood. That aside, speaking of Mel's in SF, we've have visited the Mel's on Geary and Mel's on Lombard. Mel's on Lombard in the Marina/Cow Hollow neighborhood is smaller, but vastly better service and atmosphere than Mel's on Geary. . I'm a big fan of diners, and Mel's is a fun one. Food is alright (it's a diner after all) but the ice cream drinks are great. more

We ate here once during our trip to San Francisco and found the food to be very good, with large servings and fast service. The full breakfast meals (eggs, hash browns and toast) were priced in the $7-8 range, comparable to other breakfast eateries throughout the US. Definitely would eat here again. more
