Delicious Food; Great atmosphere.

Our evening here was great. The food was fantastic and our waiter fabulous. He was very knowledgable and answered my many questions about the menu. Service was great. The atmosphere is lively and fun but not too loud. My only feedback is that the washrooms needed cleaning. At this kind of... read more

This was my third visit to Zuni over a period of years and my last. There are three screaming defects here that management needs to fix: Seating Policy: No one gets to sit until 6PM which means that a full restaurant of people is squeezed into a tiny bar area beforehand. Some folks with 6PM reservations don't get to their... More

This restaurant is just the most awesome we've ever been to, and we did go for lunch. Food was simpy awesome, fresh and cooked to perfection. Waiters were great and the service was truly awesome; note that we went there with our two years old and never did we feel unwelcome. Sincerely, we've been to many high end restaurants but... More

We walked in 15 minutes before the dinner service began, put our name on their list, had a good drink and told the hostess we had an 8 o'clock curtain. They made sure we were promptly seated and served. The food was well prepared and the staff was attentive. What else could ya ask for?

Zuni earned its reputation a few decades ago, and retains it. My wife and I showed up when it opened at 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday in late May, and were surprised that every regular table was reserved. We were lucky to get a corner seat saved for a few walk-ins. Service was very good and the food was high... More

Went to Zuni Café last night with friends. the most bog ordinary meal was prepared to eat. We were seated on the top level - vile views of the back street looking into peoples apartments. The chicken that had been raved about was in fact just a boring roasted chicken on bread with some deep fried frisse. The wine list... More

This place is very popular - reservations run our two weeks in advance. Zuni's roasted chicken was recommended to us by several people, including a few locals. Sadly, it was a disappointment - there was nothing special about this dish - too much bread in the bread salad, dressing on the bottom = greens tasted plain. Chicken was juicy and... More

Service was very slow, understaffed for such a busy place. Food was all right, not wonderful, wine list impressive, with prices to match. In general, OK but overpriced. It's in a remote part of Market Street, there are very few taxis after dinner.

We went there for a late dinner and really like the food and the atmosphere of this restaurant. As a starter we had the burrata & arugula salad to share - the salad was super fresh and crisp and the burrata came with zucchini slides instead of tomatoes (great touch!!!) As a main we went with the chicken which was... More

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
