Good food

The food and service were both very good trendy type restaurant. The location is not in a good part of town. Highly recommend taking a cab and never walk thru the tenderloin section of the city especially at night.

After all the hype, pretty disappointed. My wife and I and another couple went before the theater. Had the salad and pork chop. Good ok, service pretentious, prices ridiculous. Would not bother again. Classic over hyped eatery.

I have wanted to try Zuni Cafe for a very long time, and I just had my chance. I was unfortunately 15 minutes late for my lunch reservation due to traffic and parking, but was warmly greeted by the host. There was no issue and I was promptly seated upstairs at a window table. The vantage point was perfect as... More

We went with high expectations and left disappointed.Service was ordinary, simple surroundings are fine but a freezing cold draughty room is not. Noise level is high as there is nothing to absorb the sound which resonates so loudly as the room is open plan with a 2 level void. The food left a lot to be desired, one of us... More

My wife and I traveled from Far away to visit this café and eat some highly recommended supposedly good food. The oysters were good but the server was not. The manager did his best but he only could do so much. My wife had the hamburger which she later through up that made her sick and I had a pizza... More

This was our first visit. Have been wanting to go here for a long time. We ordered the chicken for two. I had a Caesar salad. The salad was way to large for one person -- my husband and I could have shared it. The romaine leaves were whole and dressed very thinly with a too lemony dressing. The much... More

The food, menu, and service are very good, but the “brick chicken” that is the specialty of the restaurant is really over rated. I recommend trying one of the other menu items if you go, as the chicken is a good expression of roasted chicken, but my table all thought it was not magical, and needs a side or two... More

I hadn't been to Zuni Café for over a decade and didn't know what to expect when some of my choir suggested a meal there before our dress rehearsal. We met at 4:45, immediately ordered drinks--I couldn't believe they had Weihenstephan Weißbier! After shmoozing a bit they took our orders. The burgers were delicious and exactly as we had ordered... A great place to share special moments with special people. Atmosphere is stylish but cosy, food is amazing...and of course the chicken!!! You need 1 hour to get it done...but it's sooooo worth it!

The food is always a wonderful experience here. The Chicken is to die for. A little bit of a wait but well worth it.

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway.
