There were 4 of us and we had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our table had the pork chop, leg of lamb, and spaghetti with clams. We also ordered soup, salad, and oysters. The food was tasty and service was good. Unfortunately we were unable to order the chicken due to time constraints and it looked good. Save your... More

Zuni Cafe is always excellent, but there are many wonderful restaurants in San Francisco. Having been there many times, I greatly admire it's consistency and reliability over many years. It is certainly a great place for any meal but it has become my very favorite place in San Francisco for Sunday brunch. They always have a great selection of both... More

We went in for lunch on a sunny afternoon in August. Sat in the bar relaxing over a bottle of wine and olives and waiting for the much vaunted Roast Chicken for two to come to the table. The streetcars trundled past in the sunshine - we chatted and felt the world slow down. And then the chicken came. Roasted... More

Nice ambiance and well-made cocktails. But considering how hard it was to get a reservation, how long we had to wait to be seated (45 minutes), and the fact that the vaunted roast chicken was good but not life-changing (as others have suggested), I was underwhelmed on my first visit to Zuni last month. That said, even with two bottles... More

The short walk to the restaurant showed the end of the Pride Parade in SF and everyone seemed to be in a great mood! It also was a great set up to the experience at the dinner table as well. The staff was very attentive and helpful as some of the specials were not available as they had a very... More

Zuni, the most overrated restaurant in SF. Has never fail to impress on me how ridiculous this place can be. Went for cocktails and some appts. Asked our waiter for an order of fries, Waiter: "We Don't Serve Them This Time Of Year Due To The High Sugar Content In The Potatoes Which Makes The Burn In The Frying Process"... More

Zuni has been on my radar for many years and it's reputation reaches the far corners of the world. So to actually get to sit here and bask in it's glory is a treat. How do they do simple so perfectly? I'll never know. But the food here is perfect, the roast chciken and bread salad is a meal never... More

If I lived in San Francisco, I would go to Zuni once or twice a month -- preferably for the kind of meal my husband and I had for a casual latish lunch this afternoon. Good bread, sausage for me and salmon for him (the wood fired oven does amazing things), a glass of great California wine and cheese to... More

I didn't expect a superstar in this unassuming cafe. But I was happily bowled over by every dish. I can only report on the pizzas and salads, but they did both perfectly. I am so happy when I find the rare restaurant that cares about each dish -- so many places have a few signature dishes that shine and the... More

On this second visit we decided to try the famous roasted chicken. It was delicious and ample for two to share. Salads and cocktails completed the evening. It's a great space. Diners seemed to be a mix of special-occasion and neighborhood casual.
