I recommend the chicken!

I visited Zuni together with family and friends . We had booked in advance, and got a nice table on the 2nd floor. Very nice cafe, good atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious baked chicken. Recommended!

It takes an hour to prepare, and it feeds two too well, and it is the essential order on the Zuni menu. In our group of eight, four had the chicken and the others drooled. Not that their food wasn't also fantastic--I'm sure it was--but I had no room to sample from others' plates. The chicken is cooked flat, weighted... More

For the price, this is not great. I ordered their steak, and it was overcooked and tough. The heirloom tomato salad was the best thing we are there but nothing was exceptional. The rabbit was just okay too. For the price, most things should have been exceptional.

I tried this restaurant for a business meeting. There were 4 of us. I arrived early and had a drink at the bar..........if I would have been grading this place from the bar the rating would have gone down a point as the bartender was exceptionally slow to acknowledge us or take our order. Started with the Zuni Caesar salad....it... More

This place has a good formula. Great bread, unsalted butter. Caesar salad, wood oven specialties. Nice service and atmosphere. But for me, Zuni was hugely disappointing. Starting with the Caesar: absolutely nothing special. Bland and uninteresting and $12.00. The famous chicken--so what's all the excitement about? I make juicy chicken at home and I serve it with something a lot... More

I ate at Zuni one evening recently when I was in SF for a conference. The atmosphere is modern and hip, the servers are friendly and professional, and the food is very good. I had the Zuni burger with cheese, and their famous shoestring potatoes, along with a great local IPA. I would highly recommend Zuni if you are in... More

Ordered the Oven baked chicken - it takes an hour so we had wine and starters to begin. The chicken was perfect - moist and delicious. They offer a nice wine selection that compliment the dishes. - We'll all go back!

We had a delicious chicken salad here! It was divine - a whole roasted chicken which I shared with my husband and oh my it was good! I know salads aren't normally the best but this one was off the charts and one they are actually famous for!!

We went there for lunch, place was kinda pretty much packed. We had to wait but we did not wait too long. The menu is not extraordinary but the food was really good. Small portions (the duck). Overall, very nice place, good food, we had a good time. A bit pricey overall, but I think this is the reputation of... More

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
