Food was good but not worth the expense. I won't remember a thing about it in another two weeks. Good service

I had read about the chicken at Zuni for years. On a recent trip to SF, I was finally able to experience it. It feels like a little neighborhood bistro, but the service and food are truly outstanding. We didn't have a reservation, but we got the best table in the house. A little two seater right in front of... More

At the recommendation of the waiter, I ordered the special sirloin steak entrée medium rare. We were a party of four, and the other entrees were good but not memorable. The steak, however, was bad in an epic sort of way. It was a decoratively arranged set of thin "chips" almost, each of which was so full of sinew that... More

We read a number of rave reviews about the whole chicken (for 2) at the Zuni Cafe that takes an hour to cook but is worth the wait. My wife and I went there, waited our hour, and then got what was easily the greasiest dish I've ever head. Tasty sure, but too greasy to finish.

Service, food and ambience are hard to beat. The roast chicken for 2 is out of this world. Good list of wines by the glass. Do ask your server to call a cab when you receive the check.

I liked the decor and buzz in the restaurant very much, particularly the large oven in the centre. the menu was limited in choice: the bread was delicious so I ordered a pizza, with interesting sounding toppings of broccoli and leek. However I was disappointed: there was an overwhelming lemon taste and service from our waitress was quite offhand. It... More

I have fond memories of Zuni which includes meeting Judy many years ago. I have a doh eared copy of the cookbook and love the roasted chicken recipe. Having said that I was disappointed by a recent visit the first after Judy's untimely demise. Except for shoestring fries all dishes were disappointing - the burger and pizza were left half... More

Must haves: Clam Chowder Rabbit MahiMahi Great ambiance, we sat on the lower level next to the kitchen. Our server was well versed in the food language.

A friend of mine proposed me this iconic restaurant in the Market Street and I must admit, that everything in this restaurant complies with its reputation. Well trained and friendly service, good wine recommendation and of course excellent food. The visit was worth every penny we spend. To recommend without limitation.

My wife and I heard great things of this cafe but were disappointed. The ambience was cool with art displayed on walls but it was not romantic due to the noise level and servers constantly walking by us through the night. We ordered a $30 fish dish that was fresh but completely bland. Our polenta tasted just like grits with... More

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
