Our friends told us to order the chicken as soon as we were seated and to make sure we got the Caesar salad. The reviews told us to do the same and to start with some oysters. We were skeptical--isn't a Caesar salad just iceberg soaked in fats? doesn't chicken seem like a boring thing to eat? But ever the... More

Since we stayed in the hotel next door we decided to go in for a drink and some small bites before going to (another) restaurant. We took some glasses of the housewine, some olives and shoestring potatoes and had to pay almost $ 100 which left us with a quite negative feeling about the place. The interior looked very nice... The beer was great too. And the hamburger. Great atmosphere. Would go back again next visit to San Francisco.

Zuni is on Market off Van Ess in an area not necessarily heavily trafficked by foot, but this is a restaurant that should be a destination. The food is first-rate. The wait staff is friendly and fun. The shoestring fries reminded me of the potato sticks that come in the can (totally retro) and they are not very greasy but... More

Wonderful meal with our family. The chicken really is a must - serves 3 - and we are big eatters (on menu it says serves 2). We had the clams, a salad and braised beef as appetizers - all great choices. We ordered the Chicken before we even sat down becasue it does take an hour to make. This restaurant... More

Wandered in off the street with no booking and loved the fact they keep aside tables in the bar for just such people. Great service by our waiter and we were able to grab a bottle of wine we had bought in our travels. Avoided the chicken dish like the plague as it looked too ordinary for our liking and... More

OMG ... I was first delighted with this meal almost 20 years ago and it still gives me a warm feeling that fills my hungry soul!!! Chicken sometimes and just be chicken, but this is delightful and what adds the delight is it's freshly made, hot and comes with the best BREAD SALAD (not stuffing) on this planet. You must... More

I found the food well prepared, the environment lively and the experience overall very good. The restaurant is nestled in a nice part of town and the menu items were interesting, fresh and the service was very good. I will return.

I've eaten at Zuni Cafe many, many times over the past 20+ years and it is always superb. Excellent yet unpretentious food, great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff. My all time favorite!

The good - chicken is fantastic but make sure you order it when you check in at the hostess. The menu says it takes an hour and it takes an hour. The food in general was very good. Service was attentive The average - the cocktail menu is decent but their speed would make a tortoise blush
