Really good vegetarian meal in San Francisco. It's relatively easy to find good food in the city, but Ananda Fuara stands out for being above the average insipid vegetarian food. Portions are big, staff is very friendly and service is fast.

We were looking for lunch before afternoon show at the Nourse Theater. Parked at the Civic Center garage and easy walk to restaurant. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and we loved our waiter Jesse. He was so genuine and enthusiastic. Our daughter enjoyed the Teriyaki Mushroom Boca Burger, husband had the Neatloaf Dinner, I had the Curry Dinner and... More

My wife and I had tickets to "The Book of Mormon" at the Orpheum Theater. I got depressed when searching for restaurants close to the theater. I made a list of possibilities. We parked the car and walked (among the homeless etc.) to see what each looked like. We were pleasantly surprised when we got to Ananda Fuara. It was... More

My wife and I tried this place for lunch, and weren't overly impressed. We had heard good things about it (good vegetarian options, of course), but the food just didn't live up to our expectations. I ordered the house specialty -- the Neatloaf -- and while I enjoyed, I don't think I'd order it again. My wife had the curry... More

It was pretty good food, I had the portabello wrap. It was pretty standard along with carrot raisin salad. The energy tea was really good too. Not bad for an afternoon stop. Although I don't feel the description of the cafe really matches. I wish the dishes were a little more eclectic and less tofu burgers and meat substitutes. Work... More

My son and I were at City Hall and looking for somewhere close for a tasty, healthy meal. We tried Ananda Fuara based on reviews, and they were correct - really good. I had the neatloaf sandwhich, really good, moist, and I don't even like regular meatloaf. My son had a ham (fake) and cheese panini, he also loved his... More

Tasty vegetarian and or vegan if desired. The menu was interesting and the ambiance a true Californian experience. The restaurant closed at 8pm, unusually early for a big city. The main negative aspect for recommending this place is the neighborhood. It's in the middle of The Tenderloin District, which is an edgy, rough part of town. The waiter said that... More

This was one of the best meals we had in San Francisco and was a great value. We split orders of the daily curry (cashews and vegetables in a yellow curry the night we were there) and the vegetable ravioli. Both were very flavorful and provided plenty of food. The wait staff is very courteous.

Busy casual eating place with friendly staff and, clearly, regular customers. Good food and generous helpings.

I lived in the neighborhood for 14 years and finally tried the place. My spouse is a vegetarian, and I mostly stick with a vegetarian diet. The food was excellent. I'm so glad I finally tried the place and plan to return regularly. We had the beef stroganoff and neatloaf. Both were fantastic.
