This was not our first visit here and it will not be our last. We sat outside in the back area as it was hot all day. The staff were really nice and the food was good. As in the past there were tv in the back so we could watch sports while we waited. We will deffinately eat here... read more

Not too bad for a local cafe. Friendly staff and reasonable selection of menu items that won't break the bank. Best part - as you order at the counter there is no need to go through the usual routine of forking out the expected 18% tip no matter what level of service was received.

Nice little place on Chestnut. Food was good. We liked the outdoor patio in the back. Our order was lost, but a couple of free beers and good staff attitude more than made up for the wait. We would visit again.

A simple fare of eggs & black beans served atop a quesadilla with corn tortillas and salsa. Also enjoyed flapjacks and syrup for one in our party. Fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee made the meal.

nice little lunch place with a very friendly staff. Food was great and the open air concept left plenty to look at while we enjoyed our lunch.

What fun - gabby and friendly place with good service, delicious breakfast with huge portions, endless good coffee, and no rush. Simpy cannot beat it for laid back, forget the time hustle, excellent food and fun.

We were on a walking tour with my daughter in her current town, San Francisco, and pulled into the Squat and Gobble on Fillmore when it was time to eat. Sat outside to people watch on the sidewalk and had a great sandwich meal as well. I ordered one of my "bellwether" sandwich place dishes, the Reuben, and I have... More

For over years this restaurant remains one of my favorite breakfast spots in SF...took the family here today for a late breakfast. It was just as good as always!!! Quick service, very pleasant atmosphere and great service is the secret! Everyone in the family enjoyed their meals...and I took half of my breakfast croissant home and can't wait to finish... More

We are wanting for a squat n gobble to make it's way up here to Seattle. This place was within walking distance from our hotel and we loved every bite. They had a great menu and lots of different dishes. This place is a must visit if you get the opportunity to do so.

Great spot. Cafeteria style, reasonable prices with good beer and wine. You can go healthy or really hearty, or both!

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighborhood Profile
Haight-Ashbury
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighborhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
