nice little lunch place with a very friendly staff. Food was great and the open air concept left plenty to look at while we enjoyed our lunch.

What fun - gabby and friendly place with good service, delicious breakfast with huge portions, endless good coffee, and no rush. Simpy cannot beat it for laid back, forget the time hustle, excellent food and fun.

We were on a walking tour with my daughter in her current town, San Francisco, and pulled into the Squat and Gobble on Fillmore when it was time to eat. Sat outside to people watch on the sidewalk and had a great sandwich meal as well. I ordered one of my "bellwether" sandwich place dishes, the Reuben, and I have... More

For over years this restaurant remains one of my favorite breakfast spots in SF...took the family here today for a late breakfast. It was just as good as always!!! Quick service, very pleasant atmosphere and great service is the secret! Everyone in the family enjoyed their meals...and I took half of my breakfast croissant home and can't wait to finish... More

We are wanting for a squat n gobble to make it's way up here to Seattle. This place was within walking distance from our hotel and we loved every bite. They had a great menu and lots of different dishes. This place is a must visit if you get the opportunity to do so.

Great spot. Cafeteria style, reasonable prices with good beer and wine. You can go healthy or really hearty, or both!

Excellent recommendation from a local, really have a great, fresh, broad menu to choose from. Prices are reasonable, food is good and quality great! Salmon on Salad, and grilled Salmon sandwich are really tasty. Breakfast menu is extensive, crepes are delicious!

We there for breakfast and had a great time. Food was good, service was good and over it was very good. I had the eggs benedict, my fiancee Jill had the eye opener breakfast and our buddy, Vassilias who was visiting from Greece and owns his own restaurant had the breakfast burrito. We were all very pleased with it and... More

Took a trip to the Castro area on the advice of our daughter. After wandering around for awhile we needed some breakfast. Found the Squat and Gobble in a nice corner location. Lots of outdoor seating and quick service. I had the Santa Fe scrambler that was delicious. Black beans, corn, avocado, potatoes and eggs. I would go back again.

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighborhood Profile
Haight-Ashbury
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighborhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
