After a hard weekend at the Folsom Street Fair where I was on my feet, in the hot sun, drinking a fair share of alcohol, this was the perfect place to get my hangover, comfort food. I always get the turkey. The one time I did not and got the ox tails which were way too sweet. There is a... More

Sandwiches are made to order, the meats are home-cooked, and there are a few "blue plates specials". Biggest thing going for Tommy's would be the prices; nothing is overpriced. Refreshing in a rather expensive city. Add that to a friendly staff and cold beer, and Tommy's is must see in SF.

Tommy's was unique and fantastic! You ordered and they carved your meat to order for your sandwich right there! The bread was delicious and they gave you some amazing auju to dip the sandwich in. Super fast and very reasonable price!

We enjoyed turkey, pastrami and brisket washed down with some good beers and wine. You don't come here for fine dining but the meats were excellent and the price hard to believe. Suggest you try it for yourself.

My sister heard about this place on Diners Drive-in and Dives and well we had to try it (http://www.foodnetwork.com/local/ca-san-francisco/tommys-joynt-restaurant2/index.html#/38.736171/-97.222306/4/). We picked up sandwiches for dinner. Take-out was a breeze given their walk-up to the counter and order, watch while they make it in front of you style. They have daily sandwich specials that are only offered that day - menu... More

OK, so we didn't eat here, we didn't realise its basically a cafeteria with a bar, shared tables, line up and get food from the servery, sit with strangers at a table. The food may be OK and certainly was cheap but not what we were looking for.

If you like a rough and ready atmosphere and you're hungry - this was a good place to go. Had the BBQ Brisket w/ green beans and cucumber salad. YUM.

I had one meal here when I was visiting San Francisco last month. They have an extensive menu, all American type food, and what I had was good, and the price was very reasonable.

We eat our main meals here when in San Fransisco. We ate dinner twice here in March. They rotate the specials so you can't get bored. The only dish that didn't look great was the lasagne, in some kind of cream sauce. The dinners that we like are spaghetti, meat loaf and beef stew. They also have pork dishes, turkey... More

Thursday and Sunday they serve lamb shanks. Plan your visit around these succulent shanks. If going on other nights, the corned beef is great, also, the pastrami or brisket. Heck, it's all good! That's why they've been there for many many years.
