Nice lunch

Came here after seeing Diners drive ins and dives. Bit like a carvery back in England. Food was good and reasonably priced. Had the BBQ beef brisket with mash potato which was really tender and flavor-some. Came with a bread roll which was good to mop up the juices at the end and also some baked... read more

Went here after seeing this place on diners drive inns and dives. Very good hand carved sandwiches. I had the bbq brisket with baked beans. The brisket melted in mouth and beans were tender. Definitely recommend this place. A little off the beaten path, but great value for the taste!

A local gem that's been around since 1947. Fantastic smoked meats, partial to the BBQ Beef Brisket dinner plate. Wide selection of sandwiches or plates (pastrami, corned beef, buffalo stew, meatballs, turkey leg), excellent sides (including homemade baked beans or a nice range of salad fixings), and beers from around the globe. It's not fancy or upscale, just honest and good. This is one of the few restaurants that I will stand in line at, but the que moves quickly. Tommy's has the athentic feel that seems to have been whitewashed out of American food. This place shows the franchises how to produce good food fast. And I love the fact that... More

tommy's joynt is a hoppin establishment for sure....always busy and for good reason, the food is fantastic and all homemade. smoked meats are what tommy's has to offer, and for the price you get a heaping mound of food, as well as the barrel of all you can eat homemade pickle slices, make sure to check them out...off the beaten... Dinner for 2 and under 20 dollars. I had the lasagna and my husband had the turkey, mash potatoes and baked beans. Everything was great!

One of San Francisco's original soul food joints. This place has been around for years. Cash only. Some choices of proteins arrange from turkey, roast beef, brisket, barbecue, and chicken. Some choices of sides arrange from beans, Mac n Cheese, and salad. Over the years, there has been quite a cult following. Some famous bands have stopped in as exhibited... More

A Hofbrauhaus feel, often a line, alluring choice of huge carnivore delights. This was a fun experience, so few places remotely like it. Pastrami delicious, and everything looked so good as you walk through the line to order. Check out the daily specials; one days it was huge lamb shanks, $10+ each or two for $14+.

I asked my hotel for a recommendation for a sandwich. I was told to go to Tommy's Joint. If you want an old fashioned hot pastrami or corned beef this is your place, Very inexpensive in a bar setting. Not close to Union square but well worth a 20 minute walk or cab ride. Great beer selection as well
