Good food. Great prices.

The place is definitely a dive but the food is great. Big portions and great prices. Had the pastrami and it was as good as a NY deli. The pickles are wonderful. Great beer selections. We grabbed a cab there but decided to walk back to our hotel by Union Square. This place is in a sketchy... read more

If you want an absolutely wonderful, plate-ful of homestyle cooking, then wait in line at Tommy's. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is home-cooked. Served up on big platters, not fancy plated, just big. The hardest part about going there is the choices. So many and all looking so good. Sausages are recommended for a light meal, but the sliced brisket... More

Got here at 10:30 on a Saturday night and there was a line of about 10 people. My husband got the Buffalo Stew dinner and he found it delicious. I got the Pastrami on a yummy sourdough roll. Very tasty sandwich. I found the macaroni salad too sweet for my taste, but just an issue with my palate I guess.... More

It's walking distance from our hotel. Actually, it's stumbling distance from our hotel across Van Ness. Wonderful selection of food to choose from. Turkey sandwich was good and buffalo chili is great. Not very many vegan/vegetarian choices (one of our party is vegan), but she made good with what she could. The only thing that could have made it better... More

Good Meals, Great Price, and a little bit of history for Metallica´s fans. That´s the place where Metallica took Newsted to have a meal and told him he was hired

We visited Tommy 's Joynt because we're Metallica fans and this is where they asked Jason Newsted to join the band and we ended up staying for a couple of drinks. There's a huge selection of beers and spirits, the staff were really friendly and the food was amazing. We stopped in early evening and by the time we were... More

We went here on a recommendation, the area was a bit dodgy and I was a bit sceptical. The bar staff were so friendly and drinks were SO cheap. We did a two week tour around California and Nevada and I can safely say that I had my best meal here... We had the BBQ briskett (spl?) which was Delicious... More

Came here after seeing Diners drive ins and dives. Bit like a carvery back in England. Food was good and reasonably priced. Had the BBQ beef brisket with mash potato which was really tender and flavor-some. Came with a bread roll which was good to mop up the juices at the end and also some baked beans which were sweet...
