It's not easy to get the "bistro" feeling of Paris in the US. There is more than the food element in a bistro. The close tables, a varied menu, quick and polite service, the din of the dining room as well as a feeling of being welcomed. We found all of this at Chow's Church St. location.

This restaurant was recommended to use for brunch on a Sunday. We were warned we might have to wait as it's a popular spot, but didn't have any trouble getting a table around 11am. Service was good and the menu had a good range of different types of food. I tried the french toast which was just amazingly good! My... More

This is a great go-to place when you don't need fancy, just good. Pizza, sandwiches, and other offerings are just plain good.

My wife and I have been coming here whenever we're in San Francisco for years. First time in 5 years we've been back this week, and it's as good as ever. The entire menu seems to be consistently good, but the lamb burger is a personal favorite. Staff is always friendly and quick. Also, make sure to try the ginger... More

This is a relatively small restaurant with friendly staff. Small as in a bit tight. I had the Smiling Noodles, consisting of chicken, shrimp, bok choy, mushrooms and curry. Thankfully they offer a small and regular portion and the small was plenty. Lots of flavor but not overwhelming. I also had the Hibiscus Cooler, sooty I did not like. But... More

The food was so delicious we returned twice for dinner. Everything is fresh and organic. One night I had the linguini with clams, shrimp and fresh fish. The next night wad a half-chicken served over garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Yum. This is a restaurant that caters to the locals in the neighborhood. Nothing is she-she about it. The... Chow never fails --- the food is "basic" in the best sense of the word. Nothing too fancy, but always of high quality and well prepared. Nice variety. Noodle dishes are especially good. Service is always fine. If there are no tables available and I'm eating alone or with one other person, I sit at the counter, which is just... More

Waitress really friendly. Ingredients for sandwich good but over cooked so chicken breast rubbery. Prices not terrible but felt more like a Wetherspoons.
