The food, the service, the atmosphere are all just perfect. 1st trip to San Francisco. The city itself leaves a lasting impression and truly marks itself as one of the most truly international cosmopolitan cities of the world. But more than the city, it was Dinner that at Quince that will have the longest lasting impression of San Francisco. The... More

Frankly a disappointment from the tricked up food to the wine pairings. Have eaten at America's best restaurants in the past three weeks and this was the first miss. The caviar was excellent, but with partner eating from the garden menu and me from the quince menu, courses were confused n out of order. More than expensive. Go anywhere else!

One of the best restaurants in San Francisco... at a price. Offers a fusion Californian, French and Italian cuisine. Extremely refined dishes, simply delicious. The wine and spirit list is also very compelling. The only weakness would be desserts in my opinion. Do expect very intimidating bills at the end of your meal.

We eat here almost every time we come to San Francisco and are always impressed. We have even come with a friend that could only eat liquids due to oral surgery, had allergies and is a vegan and they managed to concoct course for her that she loved. Yes it's pricey. But it's the kind of place you save for... More

Really wanted to like Quince and indeed, many areas were quite nice, but at the end of the day, forking over $960 for what was delivered gave me indigestion. Fortunately, portions were so tiny that the indigestion was minimal. The favors were subtle, presentation and service were first rate, but a $75 supplement for the "deluxe" caviar and a $50... More

This is a high end restaurant. They accommodate vegetarians well & also those who don't drink alcohol. We had their vegetarian tasting menu. The food was very good & creative, using unique items such as herbs & other ingredients. You have to leave 3 hours to dine here. Afterwards, we were shown the kitchen - very clean & organized. Had a business meal in a private room here and all of us commented on the amazing service....subtle and sublimely professional. Trust me, we are amongst the most spoilt executives on the planet and benchmark this as world-class. Locally sourced specialities and wines were the order of the day. Carefully considered and complimentary, each course was a delight. Each course... More

This is a beautiful restaurant with, as it should be in fine dining restaurants, the tables quite separated. The most beautiful flower arrangements that I have ever seen. We had the tasting menu with winepairing. The courses were of course really excellent, but none of the courses has stuck in my memory and made me go wow. And this has... More

I didn't know what good service was until my husband and I ate here. We went to Quince for a special occasion, and don't typically eat at restaurants of this caliber, so we felt a little out of place, but the wait staff was exceptional at every turn. We were served by five or size different people, each one able... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
