Description: Jardiniere, opened in 1997, is housed in a beautiful landmark building in San Francisco's chic Hayes Valley neighborhood. Highlights of the elegant setting, designed by Pat Kuleto, include a gorgeous bar and stunning staircase. The highly refined and sensual food of Chef/Owner Traci Des Jardins is a celebration of Northern California's best seasonal bounty prepared with classic French technique. The J Lounge features a full list of specialty cocktails and wines, and offers a variety of creative lounge food and small plates. Its proximity to the theaters makes it an excellent place to dine before or after a show.

My wife and I had dinner here before a performance by the London Philharmonic at the San Francisco Symphony's, Davies Hall. It was a recommendation by our concierge at the Fairmont. In a word "outstanding". The decor is modern but comfortable located in what looks like old warehouse/manufacturing space. Our waiter was very attentive and immediately asked if we were... More

I have been here twice and both experiences were good. The staff were attentive, food was outstanding. The second visit was a bit problematic because we were a large group and even though I'd made a reservation for the group, we were stuck in an awkward corner with a giant space between our two tables (one table of 3, one... Used to be my "go to" place when going to Davis or Opera House. Over time the change has been noticeable Last night was the worst....pretension was at all time "high". Staff so full of themselves. That being said, Traci Des Jardins has really let this restaurant slide to a new low. Each time, the quality seems to be gone.... More

My wife and I visited and dined prior to attending the symphony. Great location just across from Davies Hall. Food and service was exceptional for anyone looking for a high end fine dining. Prepare for the expected prices for this level of dining, but you will not be disappointed in the quality and the service. My wife had the lingcod... More

First time at this restaurant and I found the food, dessert, wine list, and the ambiance as expected in a fine dining establishment. As others have mentioned, the menu is a bit pricey and the portion size is typical of pricey restaurants but I didn't leave feeling hungry. I ordered the risotto, Coho salmon, and the cucumber / goat cheese... More

The food is the thing here, though other aspect are worthy. The salads were gorgeous, thoughtfully composed and delicious. Every ingredient was obviously chosen with great care. Small touches abounded there and with the mains. On the mains, a slow cooked short rib dish was accompanied by sauces, greens and other bits that added much and detracted not at all... More

We had dinner here to celebrate my husband's birthday during a city trip to SF. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice; a big staircase leads up to the dinning area. The water/winecoolers 'hidden' in the balustrade were a nice touch. We were seated at a table overlooking the downstairs bar. We chose the 5 course surprise menu with... More

We loved the contemporary decor of this restaurant. It is open and light with a great stairway that takes you up to the second level. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It was the "best" we found but very close to the top!

We have been fortunate to dine at Jardinière many times, since they opened, and returned during our July trip to San Francisco, looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, we dined on a Monday evening, and were surprised that they only offered an abbreviated menu. This was akin to a Restaurant Week Menu, and was a disappointment for us, as we... More

Bill, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed your meal and your service was great, yet disheartened that we could not offer you the full menu. Almost every Monday evening we serve what we call the "Monday Night Prix Fixe". Each Monday is a different theme, and allows guests... More
