Jardiniere, opened in 1997, is housed in a beautiful landmark building in San Francisco's chic Hayes Valley neighborhood. Highlights of the elegant setting, designed by Pat Kuleto, include a gorgeous bar and stunning staircase. The highly refined and sensual food of Chef/Owner Traci Des Jardins is a celebration of Northern California's best seasonal bounty prepared with classic French technique. The J Lounge features a full list of specialty cocktails and wines, and offers a variety of creative lounge food and small plates. I dined solo, seated at the bar in March 2015 I had planned on visiting Jardiniere last April when in town on holiday with my wife, but we ended up dining at another fantastic restaurant (see my review for Gary Danko), and was happy to have time on my most recent trip to finally make it to this restaurant. Read that Tracy was named best chef america by James Beard and thought must try. Was happy to get reservations and from the first course to the last I was in foodie heaven. My favorite was the sea urchin lardo toast at the beginning. Wow what a flavor profile.

Park your car here before you attend ballet or SFO and usually save $5. I really like two story open air inside arrangement. classic bar great for drinking. I usually have fish or seafood. good wine list with reasonable prices. Apps are good.

Super amazing restaurant, they have a great tasting menu option, had the best duck ever and I highly recommend after a ballet or opera night.

Expensive but a delight. Only complaint is that gluten free options are limited. They were very accommodating to our 8 year old grandson -- he enjoyed his dinner.

I was happy to try this Michelin star place and had high hopes. Reservation process and arrival were great. Table placement, room design and decor were wonderful. It has a great feel. Service was wobbly. Sommelier was just rude or at best without feelings or emotion (a real sore point as I am somewhat of a wine geek.). Server was... More

I went to jardiniere for a business team dinner (great choice Linda and Bob!). The restaurant design is very nice. Service was very attentive. I tasted limited items from the menu, but what I had was very good (I want to come back and try many more). The sea urchin appetizer was excellent. I had the tagliatelle with mushroom and... More

It's difficult to top a spot in an excellent location, with a lovely decor, and excellent food. Because of the ingredients and care put into the food, the prices are not cheap. However, all three of us were delighted with each course and the wine selection offered. The risotto was exceptional as were the fish and seafood. We rounded things... More

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
