Expensive, lovely setting, very good food

This place is usually too pricey for us, but we heard about their $55 Prix Fixe Monday and decided to give it a try. The setting is luxe, so dress up. We didn't know and got seated in the upper left rear, near the kitchen, bathrooms and office. Our waiter was great, the wine steward was very... read more

My go to prior to events near Civic Center in SF. Always great food, great wines, very knowledgeable staff. Expensive and worth it.

Our supper was incredibly nice. The staff was so attentive and even gave us a free dessert for our honeymoon. The food was delicious and worth the trip!

We had a fabulous dinner for our anniversary. I let them know with our reservation that is was our anniversary dinner, and they did not disappoint! We had a lovely corner table and since we wanted to try everything, they let us split everything we ordered. We started with the peach and cucumber salad - deliciouses!

Reservation noted we were celebrating early birthdays for two budding chefs--children (13/16). While this isn't the normal family dinner spot, the manager reserved the best table, arranged for a nice peek behind the scenes, the chef sent a complimentary appetizer specially made for them. Service was quite professional and friendly. Thank you TDJ team for executing this special evening so... More

We were at Jardiniere for a dinner to celebrate multiple birthdays. We had been there before and expected a special evening, and were not disappointed. My wife is a vegetarian, and there were plenty of choices for her. And the service was extraordinary. I'll always think of Jardiniere for special occasions. One hint about Jardiniere: It is very close to... More

Not a flaw anywhere, and we're sort of picky. Arrived and seated immediately. Waiter did NOT introduce himself (thank goodness) but simply explained the menu, had water brought to the table, and left us to decide. Food and wine all arrived at precisely the right time, all of it superb, no hovering by the staff but nothing left undone (our... More

We sampled Jardiniere twice on a recent opera weekend in San Francisco and found it to be the ideal late-night dining spot. Located less than a block from the War Memorial Opera House and Symphony Hall, the restaurant caters to an upscale arts crowd, and the bar fills with musicians and patrons on performance evenings. The bar is a wonderfully... More

It started with a snotty waiter talking down to us. Then it spiraled downhill. The menu was unappealing.. Not even a green salad to start. The halibut crudeo appetizer was so small I almost missed it. We resorted to salmon.. Barely 5 small mouthfuls and seasoned poorly. The martini was laughably small.. What a disgrace! Desserts were unappealing. In all,... More

Just loved this restaurant ! The food was fabulous , we had the sardine salad and the artichoke starters, both very good. As a main course I had the duck and my husband the salmon ...both excellent. The atmosphere was fantastic and the waiters very good. All in all one of the best restaurants we have been to so far... More

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
