Great breakfast

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great breakfast - perfect start to a day of sightseeing and shopping round The Castro and Haight. Scrambled eggs with chorizo was really tasty, served with black beans and sour cream but the Monte Castro sandwich was amazing (and huge).

You would be excused to pass In e street and not notice this place (the seating at La Taza is mostly upstairs, so it tends to look like an idle take away from the street level). I've had meals at La Taza a dozen times, and remember each one. Nothing fancy here, just some great food - Mexican oriented, but... More

Eaten here twice - both times for breakfast. French toast it very good as it the beef brisket breakfast baguette. Bottomless mimosas for only $10!

Tried for breakfast. Good espresso, kind service and nice selection of different cakes, tasty. Worth it

From the street you may think this is a tiny café, but its three stories tall. I recommend going up to the larger third floor dining room and sitting on the enclosed deck overlooking the 18th st. and a good bit of the Castro district. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was good. The real treat here is... More

I've been coming here for years. It's my Go-To lunch spot, especially if I have friends in town. I'm sitting on the patio right now, as I finish a great glass of wine after a great steak lunch. I come here for the bistek. Always cooked exactly the way I want it. Service is always exceptional. Don't be scared by... More

We stood in front of this restaurant trying to decide to try it or two others nearby. A local woman walking her dog recommended La Taza and she was right. The food was terrific, as was the friendly, attentive service. Looking to check out The Castro district and do dinner somewhere? Try La Taza.

We had a long travel day the day before we ate at Cafe La Taza. The menu is expansive and the food was fantastic! Great location if you are staying in Nob Hill. It opens early which is great for those on east coast time.

This is an excellent place, we went twice (we were at San Francisco only 3 nights). The food is really good, choice of fish or meat or pasta, for 12 to 20$. The service was also perfect! Francis & Valérie

We were looking for a place to have a light lunch. We were very happy with our wraps. Ingredients were fresh and delicious. We liked it so much we went back for breakfast the next day. There are only a few small tables but we didn't have to wait. Give it a try!

Staying in The Castro

Neighborhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighborhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighborhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theaters and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
