Great tapas

We didn't book but they found us a table , I would recommend booking as we went on a Monday night and it was really busy . The menu was just right and the food was superb

In the Basque region tapas are called Pintxo...it is Catalonia and they speak Catalonian. This restaurant says it is Basque...the food is really just tapas however and bears little resemblance to Basque cuisine. It was ok. Sitting near the toilets is not a good idea, there was a rather nasty odour wafting by... The skewers prawns (shrimp) were typical of... More

Overpriced average-quality food.  But the worst was their service. No attention whatsoever. No attention at the entrance. Asking for advice on which of two wines would be better, the answer I got was: "they are the same" (and the wine was eventually really bad, so might in fact been an honest answer). Took ages to get our food. Never brought... More

We had no reservation on a Saturday night but they managed to fit us in. Ordered drinks fairly quickly but then didn't see a wait staff for ages. Ordered starter, very pedestrian, anchovies lacked flavour, quite small serving. Next came my paella, pretty bland, lacked seasoning. The problem was that my partners meal arrived when I had almost finished, I... More

I have been to Bask on several ocassions on business lunches. The service is personal, the menu is authentic and offers good value. The owner Suzanne greets every customer personally and takes all orders. She makes every customer feel welcome and taken care of. Follow up service such as replenishing water glasses can be spotty, but I plan to go... More

Outdoor seating was good for our dogs, the service was good, and the food was good. Selection on menu was relatively good. Prices were ok.

This is a Basque region style tapas restaurant. It was nice but I was not particularly impressed. Would probably not return. Food was OK but, at least to me, it was short of what I expected.

I stopped in here with my husband for dinner. Highly recommend. Food was good, very relaxed atmosphere. Lots of space between the tables. We really enjoyed it. Owner is great, takes time to recommend dishes.

Some dishes were fine others were not cooked well and some were over cooked and the dishes had a lot of oil on them. The service was awful and they were not that busy would not go again.Spend your money elsewhere....But the white Sangria was good and that was about it

The waitstaff here is mostly focused on talking to the regulars or among themselves so service is a bit slow and inattentive. The food was not very good. I ordered the Black Paella which was mostly rice with not much seafood or artichokes as listed on the menu. It did, however, have huge garlic cloves in it which I found... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
