Best Dang Donuts Ever

The glazed yeast donuts were delicious, so was the apple fritter. Bob was very funny and nice. She told us some great stories and made us feel at home.

We went on a Monday evening. The display case was nearly empty and the selection was very limited (fritters; cake donuts and couple other items). The worker said weekends are the best for variety. Also late at night. They start frying again around 9 or 10 p.m. She said the place is busy after the bars close around 2 a.m.... More

Whenever on Polk St or in the vicinity, we have to stop here for donuts. The place hasn't changed in 15 yrs, but still has the best donuts. In and out in 5 minutes and everyone is smiling.

We visited Bob's Donuts after riding the California Cable Car Line and were Walking down Pine St. We arrived just after 12pm and received the last of those amazing giant Donuts. Is is absolutely the best Donut we every had. We will come back to Bob's one day in the morning to get a fresh chocolat glazed Donut ;)

We got the big donut glazed and a few other donuts. Hands down our favorite out of all the ones we had were the cinnamon sugar twists. Light and airy. The lady was super nice and the place had a great atmosphere of a local hangout for regulars

My wife and I went to Bob's Donuts on Monday. We had a glazed doughnut and a bun. Compared to the ones I get at Safeway, Happy Donut, Lucky Donut and our local shops, Bob's are truly outstanding. Bob's uses different recipes for its different doughnuts and this results in unique flavors and textures for their products. I think you... More

We were on a plane to SF & someone suggested Bob's. They said to try the donut holes. We went there - only donut holes they have are from the raised donuts. When I asked if holes were avail from the cake donuts...they had not heard of that! So we tried what they had. Ugh. They had so much glaze... More

Walked by on Friday to a line up out the door, so when I walked by on Saturday afternoon with my Starbucks in hand, had to stop in. I opted for the glaze and it was amazing...it was a soft pillow of goodness. I will think about this donut for a very long time and Bob's Donut will be on... More

If you are looking for modern or gourmet, Bob's is not the place for you. If you was traditional donuts, this is your place for sure. There is a good selection of donuts. We got several to try, and they were all fresh and delicious!

My mom almost never used to take me to doughnut shops when I was a kid, so they were an extra-special treat. Bob's makes me feel like that even though I'm now a grown adult. The charm of this place is 100% in the doughnuts, not in what the shop looks like. I live in Chicago, and here all the... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
