Different but in a very good way!

I did extensive research on the best places to eat in San Francisco and State Bird was a name that kept reappearing. I booked our table 3 months in advance to ensure we got a seat but there were a few people who arrived at the same time as us (9pm Tuesday evening) and were seated at the bar which... read more

The food is really unique, and all so tasty, and more on that later. I really want to point out the great service. SF diners may have noticed that at many of the hot/hip restaurants the servers have a bit too much attitude, or are just worn out from the crowds. Call it the Mission syndrome. Not only is there... The menu changes frequently here, so it won't do much good to go down the list of what I had. What I'll say though, is that was really good - even for a vegetarian. The dishes were creative and unexpected. One standby on the menu seems to be the garlic bread with burrata...you must get this! It is such a... More

Fantastic wine choice, amazing food which some courageous combinations. The service was very good and I love the idea with the trolley where one can choose from.

Yes, it is world renowned and quite good and the level of creativity and food quality is right up there with the best. The chef, Stuart Brioza, came by to explain some of the dishes and to see how we were doing. The one big problem is how loud the restaurant is. Part of the experience is to hear about... More

Let me start with the positives. There are truely excellent dishes among the many tapas-like plates that are served throughout what is an extensive meal at this currently trendy and buzzy restaurant. And the wine list is good too in terms of choice and not bad on price. If you like lots of buzz and noise then you'll like this... More

I enjoyed my dinner at state bird provisions. It was an experience unlike anything else. While the serving style is similar to dim sum there is a vast difference in the offerings. Many things that were paired together would not be an idea that would come into my mind but I was happy to try many things they put in... More

This is my new favorite restaurant in the world and I am not exaggerating. It is unlike any other I have ever been to and is more like an experience than a meal. Our concierge told us to line up around 4 pm on a Sunday if we wanted even a remote chance of getting in. There were six in... More

What an amazing meal. So inventive and original. The waitstaff is friendly and so knowledgable but not pushy. If you're ready for an adventure in food make your reservation now. We had a great belated birthday celebration for me!
