A Sweet Gem

Great variety of small truffles so you can try many flavors. I love the standard dark chocolate but my wife loves the caramel, earl grey and raspberry.

Who can say no to artisanal chocolate? They have a variety of flavors to choose from. I tried the chocolate peanut butter. Not what I expected and it was Delicious! It melts in your mouth, so smooth. I also tried the dark chocolate and l'orange, both satisfying and satiating my sweet tooth without being overpowering.

The owner makes a variety of flavored truffles. I recently tried the lavender and it was good but I probably wouldn't buy again. The honey and vodka truffle was good but my favorite is the dark chocolate. The mocha coffee is good but a little weak. 20 truffles cost $14, they're small sized but delicious.

This small shop is definitely one of our treasure in San Francisco. Every piece of chocolate they sell is hand-made, but the flavor is unbeatable. The staff is so welcoming, and let us taste anything we liked. The price is very reasonable. We'd love to go back here for several boxes of chocolate some day we're in SF again.

What can I say? At first sip, I knew the coffee was special. Did I mention a free truffle for every drink? We stopped here twice daily to get our coffee fix. They open early but also close early. The truffles were amazing too. Wish there was one in Salt Lake.

Stopped at XOX Truffles as part of a walking food tour. What an amazing experience. The owner/chef told us how he ended up starting in Paris to moving to San Francisco and what motivated him to start a business selling truffles around 20 years ago. He also did a demonstration of making truffles and let us sample some of the... More

There's chocolatiers and then there's Jean Marc. We met him on a foodie crawl and watched as he prepared what would become truffles. He offers multiple flavors with an engaging personality. Stop here and buy his goodies. You'll thank him and then me.

I went all over Paris looking for the best hot chocolate, but I found it in San Francisco. Jean Marc is incredibly talented and friendly. When we walked in, he was stirring a large bowl that would become lavender truffles. The hot chocolate was handmade right in front of us. We tried the raspberry, cognac, hazelnut, earl grey and chili.... More

We were there this pas December, just walking around San Francisco for the first time, when I see the sign Truffles. I am a chocolate truffle lover, I even make them myself. But the box of 20 for $13 all different kinds..the were all amazing. The guy that helped us gave us two free ones to try. My favorites were,... More

There are some 20 different flavors of hand rolled truffles. Obviously made with very good quality chocolate. To top it off, the service is friendly and helpful. Order some coffee and sit at the sidewalk provided tables to savor your treats.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
