We decided to walk and find a place for a drink and snack before heading to see the Coit Tower, from where one can have great 360o views of San Francisco and the Bay Area. We walked in the direction Pier 39 - Embarcadero and found a place called Hillstone, almost at the waterfront, that looked nice. We sat on... More

Great service , exceptional wine, and excellent food . I highly recommend the Hawaiian Rib Eye and the Crab cakes. The atmosphere was pleasing to the eye but due to the open concept it was a little noisy. The one downer was the lack of onsite parking.

Everytime I go to SFO I take the opportunity to walk from down town to this place. It doesn't make sense to drive. Parking is expensive. You can walk on Montgomery all the way into the rest. Service is very friendly and the restaurant is clean with a nice atmosphere. i like to sit in the bar area and eat... More

We had just finished the "adults only" night at the Exploratorium (what a great idea - definitely recommend it) and we didn't want to go too far. Fortunately, we found Hillside. We were seated immediately at the bar (our choice - it was only a 15 minute wait for a table but we were hungry) and the service was prompt,... More

I can't figure out why this gem is not more crowded with tourists, but I'm not complaining! We eat here every time we visit San Fran. We love the smoked salmon appetizer, the ribs, the Hawaiian ribeye and the grilled chicken salad. Don't miss the hot fudge sundae for dessert - it's the best ever and totally shareable. Tonight, we... More

We chose this because it was directly across the street from the Alcatraz pier. We did not realize how nice it would be. Mostly business people, a good lunch menu--and a very nice relaxing lunch.

My concierge asked me to go to hilstone for the best pork ribs in town and he wasn't wrong. It's situated opposite pier 33 and has a terrific menu covering most of the great American standards. I ordered the pork ribs and they were excellent. All smothered in sweet and tangy barbecue sauce and falling off the bone....delicious! Highly recommended.... More

Fabulous meal at the Hillstone. Great value for delicious food. Love the fact that you can bring your own wine !! Shrimp Starter was amazing !! Seared Tuna for Dinner was wonderful. One of the best meals of my 3 week visit to the states.
