We started off with the artichokes (maybe the best ever), salmon appetizer (oh, so good) and the the tomato bisque. Main courses were the tuna and the ribeye. The tuna was better than the ribeye. I was not overly crazy about the marinade but still good. If in doubt where to eat. Go here. Bill was close to $200 with... More

Recently had lunch at this Hillstone. It was predictably good and they don't have a corkage fee so bring a bottle of your favorite wine to enjoy with your meal.

Our son and daughter-in-law took us here on the last evening of our visit. It is only about a ten minute walk from where they live, so was very convenient for us, so it was an additional pleasure to find out how good it is too. Our son had warned us that the portions are generous so we skipped starters... More

Went for late lunch/early dinner on a beautiful Sun. afternoon. We were seated outside on the patio with a view of the Embarcadero. Ordered the grilled artichoke appetizer. Probably the best I have ever had. Also had the Hawaiian teriyaki steak which was also very good and came with fries. Although food and service was excellent, a little on the... More

It was lunch after a visit to Alcatraz on a beautiful day. All the outside tables were taken so we settled for a both inside away from the traffic. The foccacia with olives was an excellent starter followed by excellent waldof salad. Although expensive ($19) they were substantial with chicken, various nuts, raisons, apple and salad greens. Delicious but leaving... More

The second time I've gone just for margaritas & the grilled artichoke appetizer. This time we sat at the bar. It was a gorgeous Saturday (Kentucky Derby). While our service was efficient, the bartender was far from personality plus. Maybe she was ticked off because she had to work on such a pretty day. The drinks were great and the... More

This Restaurant was recommended by a local. Already busy from the start (11am) with businesspeople and tourists. Located right across Peer 33 (Alcatraz). We had the filet and handcut fries. Both awesome. The sides maybe not too hot, but the filet (40usd) and the fries (6 USD) very good in taste and quality. No refill on the beverages :-)

Tried Hillstone based on friend's recommendation. It is close to Pier 39 on the Embarcadero. Atmosphere was busy and noisy, but we got a table in the corner, so that helped. Wait Staff were ok, but a bit impersonal. Just a bit more effort could have been the difference between an average meal and a great one. Food was flavorable... More

After our Alcatraz trip (the pier for this is directly opposite) we fancied some dinner and this looked just the place. The service was great, got a lovely booth table and nice dim lighting. My husband and I both had the burgers and these were expceptiomally good. Well cooked, nice garnish and really soft bun. Definitely glad we stopped here!

The service is better here than most other places that I have visited. I have been to 6 Hillstone restaurants through my travels and the service seems to be consistent. Great place to take a client or enjoy an afternoon lunch!
