Good food and a great staff, but....

I've been going to Hillstone for a long time, and must say that for a chain restaurant, they do a particularly good job. I've been going to Hillstone for a long time, and must say that for a chain restaurant, they do a particularly good job. Their strength lies in hiring excellent staff, and using good quality ingredients. The Kale salad is a particular winner, as is the burger. That said, I am frustrated by a number of things. Since they don't have... More

Dropped into Hillstone for a light snack and sat at the bar. Nice, upscale atmosphere, attentive service, and pretty good food. I had the ribs which were very good, but not quite worth the $35 price tag. Still, a nice meal.

We had kale salads with grilled chicken that was the perfect lunch! The server was very good (Tristen) because I don't eat peanuts so he substituted almonds and brought me olive oil and balsamic! His recommendation of a craft beer was just what my husband wanted. Love Hillstone!!

We came here for dinner, we were seated very quickly and had some good service during the night but also had some bad service. Upon entering I was asked to remove my hat (plain black was part of my waldrobe for the day), now I dont have a problem with this but what I do have a problem with is... More

We really enjoyed this place and returned twice in our 3 day stay in SF! I can specifically recommend the tasty pork ribs, the filet, and the rotisserie chicken. All of them were great. Sides were also good but they could add some variety. Interesting wine list. Atmosphere and service are a plus, with an open-view on the kitchen through... More

We went here after finishing our Sunday trip out to Alcatraz for dinner. We got there right around 8:30 and the place was PACKED! After waiting for close to 45 minutes, we were seated at the back of the restaurant near the piano. This place is not an inexpensive place to eat so lets get that out there to start... More

Feeling wrung out from the holidays, we decided to wing it and take our chances at the bar of Hillstone, one of our favorite restaurants. Being New Year's Eve, this was a bit adventurous, but everything worked out. After patiently waiting for seats, we were offered cocktails right away, and dining setups were laid out. We shared the grilled artichoke... More

Great steak, well worth the 30 min waiting time. Good location. Nice atmosphere. A bit pricey though.

If you want to pay $19 for a cheeseburger this is your place. Pretty much a Big Mac at quintuple the price. Other entrees were expensive also like a cheese omelette for $13. Service was good. Was not impressed.
