Can't miss. Excellent pizza the way it's supposed to be (and better)

Delicious pizza. Just moved to SF from NYC and I have to say.... this is definitely easily up right at the top of anything I've tried in NY. Not surprisingly, founder of UPN is from out east and learned how to do it right. There are things that many Yelpers/Tripadvisor users don't like about... read more

Burned pizza. Pasta not well cooked. Place too much noise and cold. Excessively expensive. Not a real pizza

In the world of brick oven pizza, Una Pizza Napoletana is in the top 3 for the best pizza in SF. If you check my other reviews you will see that my family and I are on a mission to taste and rate very worthy pizza competitors. The judging has been a simple process: buy a margarita pizza to compare... More

This is my second time here. I must admit I really liked the pizza the first time - thin crust, very good ingredients. They keep it simple. All they have is pizza, beer and wine. And the pizza is very good! But several of us in our group agreed that there are other pizzas we prefer in San Francisco. Reading... More

We don't understand all the hype. The menu is very limited (5 pizza's only- nothing else) and the food is expensive for what you get. The food was "good" but not outstanding. The atmosphere is non-existent. Hardly worth the trip from downtown.

The owners are so consumed by their purist views that dining here was miserable. After waiting for 45 mins, I asked if I could get some bread. I was hungry you know. The owner, Illaria, told me "This is a pizzeria, we don't have bread". They also don't have any appetizers, salads, deserts, "extra oil" or pepper. She was so... More

The pizza is amazing. Even though I think it is too expensive(25-dollar for a 12-inch pie), I'd come back again. We had Margherita and Apollonia(Saturday only). The most amazing part is the dough. It is airy and chewy. They were made in a wood-burning oven and that extra smoky flavvor coming from the wood is just unbelievable. There is a... More

This continues to be the best pizza in the San Francisco area. The owner, Anthony, makes the pizza in front of your eyes. He is the only chef here! Individually making each pizza out of a limited menu of 5, the choice ingredients and flavors all come out in the pizza, whether it is the sea salt, the mozzarella cheese,... More

I had first read about Anthony Mangieri in a New York magazine issue focused on the pizza scene in New York a number of years back. It was a delightment to hear when I learned he had moved his Una Pizza Napoletana establishment to the West Coast and have been wanting to try it for awhile. UPN is a very... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
